I don't think Ochiko is a very good artist. An exceptional amateur, a big fish in a small pond, but that's about it. He never does interactions beyond giga on blob cities, his characters are always done at flat angles, at best his stuff just looks like stock anime that very rarely wows. Don't know shit about him personally though, my understanding is that he's a giant crossdressing cyclops flower.

Gonna have to agree to disagree. Ochiko's art is very clean and refined and has improved a lot, the only real issue is that his compositions are repetitive, like you said, but your mileage may vary. It's not exactly a ticket to amateur country. And his characters look "flat" to a purpose. Less so because he hit some kinda artistic wall and can physically not color in any way other than simple cel shading, but more because he's an anime artist, and that's what anime, in fact, looks like, more so than almost every single artist around this fetish (which is presumably more important for him considering how frequently he draws copyrighted anime character). Simple isn't bad if it's done well and to a purpose.

The thing about Ochiko is that he never really improved with his art, he simply puts more time into it than he used to. He pretties everything up and is great at imitating anime styles, but he never made a concentrated effort to get better. It's strange, considering how productive he is. And in Ochiko's case, the fact that his coloring is simple was brought up exactly to show that he doesn't "rely" on it. Even if the broad subject that is "coloring" boiled down to just being a way to cheat your drawing into looking better, rather than just being a part of the bloody drawing, it would still hardly apply to Ochiko. I see what you're trying to say but I don't see where you're getting it from- looking at his huge gallery, his base forms and lineart are done well barring the occasional mishap.

I'd rather have a great black and white image than a poorly drawn colored image. Again I think we should remind ourselves that this is all purely based on how you feel about it. Clean, refined, but uninteresting. I agree that his compositions are repetitive, and what's he's repeating is the same giga/microbe scale where the characters might as well exist in different comics. His characters lack passion, his art lacks action or drama, he's a serviceable manga artist but that stuff is produced for volume not quality, and Ochiko doesn't come within spitting distance of achieving that sort of volume. It strikes me as an amateur, a hobbyist that happens to be good *enough* to get away with it in a community starved for content. That's really extremely subjective and can't be argued an awful lot without running in circles. As far as I can tell that's the niche he's aiming for and his art is very suitable for what he's attempting to do. While I do like Hakuto better I wouldn't consider Ochiko an amateur by no stretch of imagination. I like doujin works and fanart outside this fetish, and looking at things, I wouldn't claim that he's just an amateur and the only reason he's "accepted" is because of he's part of a small community. I can speculate with confidence that he could do well in more mainstreams themes if that's where he directed his motivation to.

The coloring behind his works is not nearly as simple as you make it out to be. Just because it's based in anime stylings doesn't make it any easier to do. He clearly puts a lot of effort and time behind the polish of his works and it shows.

The thing about art is that coloring is something that should be separated entirely from a work in order to judge it objectively. It only serves to boost the aesthetic look of it, but can never fix any underlying issues with the lineart and structure itself. Bad artists cover their work with polish all of the time to avoid having to improve, it's all over the place. If a picture ceases to look good once you break it down into the actual drawing, it wasn't quality work to begin with.

That he puts so much time into products that rarely reflect the effort is a pretty big flag. He has production shots and previews for images it would take a trained illustrator an hour to knock out, and a lot of what you learn studying illustration is efficiency and getting those big effects looking right as quickly as possible. It's a problem that comes from imitating what you see, no matter how painstakingly, rather than learning how it was done.

Karbo is a fun example of a whole host of other problems. Karbo is obviously trained, you can even go back and find the stuff he did before he went full anime and the man has learned to draw people and it shows in his art. Karbo's issue, which Ochiko shares to a degree, is that all of his characters giant and small regard their situation with all the drama of getting caught in a traffic jam.

This is more of an issue with the genre as a whole. "And then she eated MORE people" isn't a drastic improvement from "and then she cuddled MORE people", authors are so often stuck on their own little kink that everything else kinda goes out the window as the fixate on the single thread of logic that leads to whatever gets them off. The major points are repeated ad nauseam and the minutiae are worked over with fetishistic detail when they're not skipped over completely, making it unreadable to anyone who falls outside the writer's specific nook of the fetish. I think a lot of it comes from most of our writing community being pretty young, that so many of them focus on high schoolers makes sense if it's their primary frame of reference.

As a murder fag that I can stand to read a story has less to do with actual content, it's more about how it's written. I've been a writer for a couple of years, and have long since graduated from high-school, but despite that I occasionally find myself returning to that cliché setting. Not entirely sure why people have such deep rooted sentiments for that period. Maybe it's a nostalgia thing? Or maybe we just haven't found something to replace that original giantess stimuli? When I wrote, it was driven by both the kind of story I wanted to see, and the story I'd most like to experience for myself (though I'm into red dots, it wasn't a story like that). I thought "Man, life sure would be more interesting if this happened". You know, typical escapement stuff.

As for why it took place in high school, that was the environment I best knew how to describe at the time. Sure I could probably bullshit my way through an office, but I wasn't able to do it justice.

Another big (get it?) influence was just what I was reading at the time, and I just happened to be reading Super Dreadnought Girl and watching Ultimate Girls, both of which take place in high schools. With this much reinforcement, it felt pretty natural to have a stupid boy meets girl size story in a high school. it's kind of an easy cliche.

For a while I wanted to write a story set in space between humans and some alien-but-still-basically-human species. I made a bunch of lore for it, but never got around to actually writing it. Had everything done except the start, and I just couldn't make it sound good. Maybe some day.

It was literally, hands down the best gts/size material we will ever get in an anime. Nothing will ever surpass it and I'm not being facetious.

There are over half a dozen instances of her touches/interacting with/having other people on her in the episode even DISCOUNTING the beach scene.

There are shots of her interacting with buildings, clothing, people, etc. Literally the only thing they could've done that they didn't was have one of the girls crawl in her pussy.
