What's the most pretentious/expensive thing you ever ate?
I started at a new company this year and was invited to the christmas party at a gourmet restaurant / acrobatics show mix. Food was included, drinks were not. I couldn't afford anything to drink.
Pic related was the second entry which was really fucking good (cream soup of black salsify with king oyster mushrooms and yellow porcino flan), the rest was just ok.

brother works at a small airport where pretty famous people regularly take to head to new york.
he snuck and brought us bison once, though i dont know how expensive that is.

A food place I used to go to recently got new management and turned into a trendy hipster place. Now everything is stupidly expensive and what you get is not worth the price. I ordered some avocado sandwich thing to try it out on the off-chance that it might be good, but it was basically some toast with avocado slices for £6. A real shame since that place used to do nice, simple stuff at reasonable prices, me and my work friends would sometimes go there for lunch.
