Nah, Snyder is having fun with it, which is just great in my opinion. He sees what is happening with Marvel and their events and understands that shit like "Hydra Cap" only leads to more problems down the road. He does respect Spencer and tried to give Spencer a hand when he was interviewed. He said something along the lines of "give the author some time and maybe it'll turn out good."

Overall Snyder said he wanted some cartoony fun for a event that isn't meant to "shake up the industry". I mean, Damian fucking Wayne had one of the best panels, next to Babysied.

Except it doesn't ever treat or acknowledge the story to be ridiculous on any level. It doesn't wink at you the way Morrison is able to have fun with the sillyness while still maintaining dramatic gravitas to his story. It instead insists that this is a gravely pressing and highly dangerous threat they are facing and there is no real levity. It's one of Snyder's biggest weaknesses as a superhero writer.

Even th more absurd things like using a Darkseid baby to travel back in time is still depicted as being completely serious and important plot detail. Same with the meeting of the immortals, where they are debating life-and-death matters and considering to use all those silly concepts as a weapon to defeat a palpable threat to the world.
