so while detached, male chauvinist, he was also a proud american, a good/law abiding citizen, also rich and hard working. he was incredibly likable to most men, direct and strong. he treated women like trash and simply didn't care about feelings and such, as long as appearance was met.

so to me that's not an "evil" person, just an asshole, who has priorities not set to my particular moral standing. the lobotomy and burning things while terrifying to a modern audience, probably seemed not only common place but with best intentions in mind.

So the analogy of prescription anti-depressants isn't accurate, a depressed woman wouldn't be forced to take these pills at under her doctors instructions but she doesn't need too.
