Superman is only truly interesting as a character when he isn't presented as perfect. The boyscout routine should die and stay dead.

THE MASTER OF BLADES

Agreed. He's worked best as a power fantasy for the weak and downtrodden, that deals out the well overdue comeuppance to professional assholes. The 50's - Reagan era Supes where he went full "boy scout" really watered him down, imo. Don't get me wrong, he's had some good stories with that characterization, but it just doesn't have the enduring longevity of his Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster's original vision.

Nope, sorry OP.

Superman is an ideal to strive for. Sorry there is no room for hope in your sad life OP

I feel like these two things make for a great Superman. He should be a champion of the oppressed but he should also be seen as a paragon of hope to look up to. Morrison's AC and the DC You Truth storyline were great homages to his Golden Age roots.

>a champion of the oppressed
I can see multiple ways how this could go wrong tho

Counter-argument. Keep the boyscout routine, but every once in a while show why it isn't perfect.

Then we would have no more touching scenes where everyone feels better thanks to the superman talk.

oh my god he's right. STOP THE PRESSES. WE HAVE TO CANCEL SUPERMAN
>>95186192
I agree that Superman is way more interesting when he's imperfect, but sometimes, even that can go too far.

Everyone is going to be interesting as a character when they aren't presented as perfect.
