OP, the thing about "Westerners" is how many different countries with different artistic sensibilities fall under that banner. I could see "Berserk" done by some crazy Russians in the vain of "Come and See": A war drama about a lost soldier who's forces to walk the shadows of his once best friend now turned to king. If done by an American, you could theorize a Ralph Banski-esque, very fucking crudely animated into a critique of feudalism, monarchical structures and classic Celtic fantasy. Miura is a genius, and there's no argument agains't that, but Berserk is so heavily western, and takes so much of it's ideological concepts from Western Philosophy and Literature that, if given a good team and a visionary behind, it could thrive. But, even the Japs are failing to do a proper adaptation and Miura has borderline moe'd his own artstyle.


Still, I personally think that, on the other spectrum, Boku No Hero Academia cannot be done by westerners. It can't.
