>this is literally one of the most amazing comics i have ever read
>it will never be noticed by anyone because most people who read american comics are more concerned with never ending, SJW pandering, company owned capeshit and weebs are more concerned with reading eternal status quo, harem porn marketed as entertainment
why

Okay then help me out anon, how do i get into Hellboy? Where do I start?

Hellboy is incredibly popular you moron
>>
>being a 15 year old who just discovered comics
>trying to impress us with /pol/ shit
hellboy is darkhorses flag ship series. no one cares about leftist pandering, normies dont care about politics enough to notice it and neckbeards hate it hence why marvel is dying. stop trying so hard and read mignolas other stuff. also conan
>>
>>95123883
I will NEVER read Hellboy for two reasons:
1. I disliked the movies
2. it's way too long

You take that back right now, young man.
>>
>>95123897

The first issue. How is this hard?
>>
>>95124170
1. K
2. There's a lot of it, sure. It has neither a beginning nor an end yet.
>>
>>95123934
There's a better version that goes by individual trade instead of library editions, so you get a better chronological order. I don't have it on hand right now but it's out there.
>>
>>95124170
Not reading it because you disliked the movies is pretty dumb FYI, they're extremely different.
>>
>>95124170
>2. it's way too long
So don't read it I guess, your loss. Honestly though, for how long it's been running it's not actually all that long.

thats a good thing you fucking retard
hellboy wouldn't have ended if normies loved it
>>
>>95123883

I know this is bait but why Hellboy: The Crooked Man specifically? Why not something a little more obscure or ironic to shitpost.
>>
>>95124330
look at the nose anon
>>
>>95123883
That's actually my favorite Hellboy story.

sigh

But he's an Appalachian witch, not a jew?
>>
>>95124170
1.Absolutely retarded reason, that's like saying I won't read Ostrander's Squad because of the crap movie
2. You don't have to read all of it
>>
It's one of the more well known Hellboy stories. It's not like you'll ever see a thread about how great Midnight Circus was
>>
>>95124694
Meanwhile I didn't watch Suicide Squad because of how great Ostranders run was.
>>
I love this thread, mk?
>>
>>95124694
I have OCD, if I start a series, I have to read every single issue, even the spin-offs. (no wonder I hardly ever read Marvel or DC)
>>
>>95123935
I think it's at just the right level of popularity, where it hits the perfect balance between obscure and mainstream. It's not underappreciated, but it's also not overrated.
>>
I've recently started reading Hellboy because of his Injustice reveal and I've really been enjoying it. So far I've read Seeds of Destruction and Wake the Devil, and I'm curious does it stay at this level of quality or is there a drop off?
>>
>>95125067
It gets better.
>>
>>95125118
And here I was expecting it to get worse, good to know.
>>
>>95125067
it gets way way better. Personally I like B.P.R.D way more than hellboy even though I love hellboy
>>
>>95123883
hellboy is extremely popular dude dark horse is either the 3rd or 4th biggest comic companies and hellboy is their main series. You don't see it. everywhere yet because the movies for it are over a decade old and you don't usually see people talking about just a comic no matter the comic.im sire when the new movie releases it will be talked about all over
>>
>>95123883

Your comic book reading circles must be casual indeed if they don't recognize or have read any Hellboy up to this point.
>>
>>95123883
yeah my dude hellboy is just so obscure those sjw gay nazi millennial boomer casual normies will never understand
>>
>>95125067

It never gets bad. Aside from maaaaybe one or two of the recent spin off minis. Which aren't bad, but bad by Mignolaverse standards. There's some of the absolute best stuff still in store for you.

Really depends on how much nostalgic toy garbage IDW can put out that month.
>>

Wait for mignolaverse anon to start up the series again

WOAH WHAT

Same, but it isn't the same without Davis.

James Harren is different but unbelievably talented in both action and character moments

FUCK! And I was really hoping to get my library edition signed too
>>
>>95125490
Anyone have something like this but it has like the top 10 or 15? Im curious how high valiant and avatar are on that list.

Also does this lump icon and max into marvel and vertigo into dc?

Thanks pal just randomly entered this thread and i was looking for a reading guide for some time.
>>
>>95125248
Dropped B.P.R.D years ago as it seemed to meander for like forever. Is it worth picking up and re-reading from the start again?

Think I dropped out somewhere when Liz had a big fire battle with Not-Fu Manchu and Abe become a Frog man but they never went into the change (was that explained?)
>>
>>95127506
They finished Hell on Earth last year. Abe spun off into its own series but it has the distinguished honor of being the only outright bad Mignolaverse series
>>
>>95127506
definitely go back into b.p.r.d they finished up that storyline
>>
>>95123934
Thanks!

>>

Dude it's not all that obscure. Hellboy has two movies with another on the way. Hellboy is popular and you're not that cool for liking it.
>>
>>95123883
reminder mignola is a sell out who doesnt care if his creaton is destroyed in pro of fake diversity

Obvious bait is obvious.
>>
Anyone know what happened with Baltimore? It started semi-rocky but then I really got into it. Then there was an artist change and the last storyline felt like a rushed obligation. Shame cause there was some good stuff in there.
>>
>>95129249

Golden hasn't said anything that I'm aware of, but it seems very clear that the run got cut short. Everything was ramping up pretty smoothly, but that final volume felt like a very odd rushed jarring change.
>>
>>95130819
> but that final volume felt like a very odd rushed jarring change.

Totally. Things hinted towards the grandiose, some baroque horror shit, then ended up being a small clumsy hand-to-hand fight. The greatest evil of all time, thwarted by wearing their dude's hoods and a knife or whatever it even was. Shame
>>
>>95130878

Frankly I think part of the problem is one of scope. How do you end a tale that got that big? For the first however many volumes, it was Baltimore and friends hunting clues and hints and putting out brush fires. How to end it when you turn it into a grand obvious public war? That's where things lost their atmosphere.
>>
>>95131643
Chapel of Bones was probably the highest point of the series, could've ended it there
>>
>>95132250

No, it still needed an actual ending. You can't just end on half a dozen cliffhanger loose threads.
>>
>>95128734
Reminder that no one cares and you should learn to spell.
