Why are cartoons meant for adults common on TV but almost impossible to find in full length theatrical movies?

Too much money at stake. Adult cartoons are hard to sell to networks if it's not humor, and movies are even harder to sell if it's not based on humorous adult cartoons.

I mean, The Simpsons and South Park got a movie, so did Family Guy although not theatrically released
TV has a more stable revenue stream than film. Movie studios rely on blockbusters for most of their revenue, but TV networks get subscriber fees from cable companies as well as advertising. This means networks don't have to score home runs to stay in business, they can have moderately popular shows with steady audiences and still get enough revenue to stay on the air. This allows for more experimentation because the risk of failure is not as great.

Disney infantilized theatrical animation and most studios followed suit.
>>95094116
Well for starters there are no cartoons in theaters in general, so that could be a reason.
>>95094116
becuase who the fuck would want to watch that?
>>95094822
Not originally though. Disney cartoons were for everyone. Hell, Dumbo was on a lot of fighter planes during WWII. Hitler was a huge fan of The Three Little Pigs.

Not all Disney films aren't as "soft" as people make them out to be.
Certainly I can only think of Tinton and Beowulf. Nobody watched them though.

You find plenty of adult cartoon movies in Europe.

Because adults aren't going to pay to see a cartoon in theaters.
>>95094116
Because most adult animation is geared towards humor and most of today's adult humor is either "dude weed LMAO", "you slept with jimbo! OMG" or "haha that guys guts are everywhere!" stapled onto something already childish and moronic. Which is probably why they don't run more than 20ish minutes per episode because people would be bored with it after any more than that.
