You'll find that some classes are bullshit OP at solo but garbage in groups, but since this is an MMO, solo is gay. Dofus plays quite differently. It's modeled more like a traditional MMO where you gain skills as you progress (in this case, as you level), whereas you have full availability basically from the beginning in wakfu. The combat system is quite different as a result, whereas modern wakfu is max deeps and get one healer (2 in the rare hard content), dofus actually maintains a semblance of tactic where range management, movement, and planning actually matters.
The world and quests are also much better in dofus because the game was built with that in mind, whereas wakfu used to have no quests (you had cheevos that gave you utility and swag for your pet slime, as well as shitton of secrets, but the rest was up to the players -- even money didn't drop from monsters and had to be minted by players), so it's all tacked on.
Because of the skill model in each game, there is more variation in skill mechanics in dofus than wakfu as well.

Money only comes from minting. This makes for a very good economy without insane inflation. It also means that items can be priced precisely in terms of player effort-per-coin. There are world bosses which are neat and make you shit bricks when you discover them, and (for better or worse) the ecosystem can go to shit if everyone's a moron.
There are no quests, but there are many secrets, especially including secrets that require players to cooperate to unlock (kralamore island has a questline that showcases this kind of thing, and the phorer dungeon also has something like that, but they removed all the other ones, especially the previously publicly accessible ones).
Achievements are actually interesting/mean something (you get decoration for your slime) but are non-concomitant (you don't really care about doing them that badly, it's just something to do if you don't know what else to do).
Professions are limited, not everyone can be everything at once, further forcing players to cooperate.
Auction houses are localized, which created micro-economies at both towns and tradebridges which specialized (at the cost of convenience of course), further helping the economy (see: arbitrage).
No trash like solo dungeons or adaptable dungeons.
No havenworlds, so if you shit on the ecosystem, you pay the price. Government actually more or less has to do something to make sure the land isn't retarded (not too much though). Further improving player interactions.

Also I like the rules on ombre (even though oto mustam's rules are even cooler): permadeath means you can replay the same character from level 1, with 2x exp modifier until you reach your previous max level. You also get a passive 3x exp bonus simply from playing on that server. Death against other players does not kill. All equipped items are destroyed on death.

Oto mustam destroys only 25% of items and distributes the remaining 75% of items to monsters in the area, but pvp death is also permadeath.

Some of those aren't necessarily bad, for example gear shaders allows you to fashionfag and also contribute to Ankama (though with their bad decisions, I can see that as a bad) and Team Finder is actually good, though it being Ankama they managed to make it bad. One thing they did fuck up hard was the making all dungeons not require keys anymore making the Handyman class utterly useless.

Also you're wrong on several points, for example the multiboxing being frowned upon is correct, but a majority of people still did it considering how the game worked then.

Team finder looks good if you're not very experienced with MMO, but in practice all it does is further remove interaction between players. For example, in earlier days in wakfu, people who would sit around a dungeon trying to setup a group would shoot the shit together, or fix the ecosystem while waiting, or stuff like that. With the partying requirement changes (as outlined), people have been doing that less and less. Nowadays it's pretty rare to find more than a couple people at a dungeon entrance.
Now, if you add dungeon finder (this is something you can observe also with pretty much every other non-new MMO out there as they've also made the switch from a pre-finder system to a post-finder system), is that people literally never speak, before or after dungeons. They group, they enter, they leave. That's it. That's why I say convenience instead of MMO.
I know most people multiboxed. In the french servers, most people actually find this to be very normal and expected and actually weren't happy at ankama for not making it easier. In other servers, they were doing it mostly because of enu bonuses and because they didn't want to wait for parties, for instance. This also had quite a bit to do with playerbase size at the time, though. But the point is, people who did that at the time did not much disrupt the way people interacted. As more and more features to make soloing more convenient came along, that was no longer the case.

Everyone always had and will go to the Temple to circlejerk especially when it was bigger. I personally do not recommend trying to discover more lore through the games: it would be very time consuming and you are better off just googling everything you want to know.

If you still want to try, Wakfu would be the easiest to get in and complete for story as it is the more strightforward of the two MMOs. Dofus has the main origins of many of the animated works, but again, I do not recommend unless you had a lot of time to spare.

Go watch the Groug fight. The first thing that happens is that Nox gets blasted into a mountain, Groug follows up and Nox immediately teleports out of the way. Aside all of the times Nox takes a beating and still comes back. Nox was clearly more skilled and powerful than Yugo, and the only reason Yugo could even gain the upper hand in the first place was because Nox didn't realize that the kid could break his spell.
