Just got back from the feels thread and it got me thinking. We'll never be heroes will we? Not like them, you and me, not even if we get powers. We've seen too much shit on the internet, too much weird porn or gore. We shit on people we don't like mercilessly and we feel nothing but validation when something bad happens to them, Slott, Dobson, Bendis, the Questionable Content guy, we spend all day bitching about them. Would Superman do that? Would Spiderman do that? I just realized i'll never be a hero in the way I wanted /co/, and it fucking sucks. But i'll keep doing it, and you'll keep doing it, and we wont stop.

I congratulate you! You have seen through the mirror darkly. Anti-Life justifies your Despair. And now go forth and kill.
Listen to Jordan Peterson. Nihilism rots the soul and living by virtues and ideals is the most heroic thing you can do. Closest thing to being Superman there is.

Its easier to be a hero in the real world because it all depends on who you ask. Visit Romania and Wallachia in particular and the locals think Vlad Tepes (the guy who inspired Dracula) is still regarded as a national hero. You can impale people on sticks and leave them to die on hills, you can kill millions of people like say Genghis Khan or Mao and many people will still think you're a hero.

So what?

But I want to be MY type of hero. Some of the shit i've seen on here and on other parts of the internet have taken that from me.
>implying heroes are innocent
>implying heroes aren't monsters strong enough to suppress their urge to do wrong
You aren't moral if you're harmless.

Like something has been fucking me up after that thread. I just remembered being like 12-14 and stumbling on Shadman's website. There was this really screwed up comic about the legend of Korra where the youngest airbender kid has sex with his older sister and mother. Like who the fuck looks at that stuff? I feel like i've been tainted.
I am a High school teacher in my mid thirties. Growing up, we had superman, gi joe, desu thundercats, and a bunch of other examples of positive heroes. Today, young people idolize athletes, rappers, and politically controversial figures.

>Today, young people idolize athletes,
Haven't athletes always been idolized though? Also, i'm not that old, i'm only 19

You don't spend 24h here. Once you leave to the real world you have to choose to do the right thing.

I wondered over the Shadbase once while trying to bust a nut over Helen Parr, found the suit weird and just left. I've never seen gore or any of the disturbing shit because I don't go looking for trouble and then complain about it. It's kinda you fault.
Besides, you're too pessimistic if you're the OP. I believe in doing the best you can and never giving up. That's what Iron Man taught me, and that's the reason why I got into Physics with an aim to do my PhD on Engineering and move on to making augementations a reality. It might be far-fetched, but that's what I believe in, and I'll die for it.
Get a dream, and then go out there and fight for it. I'm not even American, but I still expect to live the American Dream some day...
>>95085580
what the fuck
Speak for yourself OP. My hero was always an A-hole.
>>95085580
Or you could try and change your behavior instead of wallowing in self-pity.
>>95085777
I'm with you, senpai! Anti-Life justifies us all!

Not lying, the first thing I'd do with my powers is rob a bank or armored car.
