Fuck me, this was so good.
Did Dav Pilkey do literally everything here?
>>95059996
Actually Dav took a step back and let them do what they will, so he could approach it as a fan.
Story time!
>>95060237
>tfw sad worm will never not be sad
"Sad Worm"
It was about a worm
that was sad.
>>95059996
I can't watch this because two grown men are voicing kids
>>95059996
I watched it in Spanish and was surprised it wasn't watered down even a bit and kept to the soul of the english version. One of the best animated films I've seen.
>>95060050
Dav's a cool guy.
>that future
>>95060417
>"I'll be in a suit for some reason."
How much rule34 of lunch lady have we gotten?
>>95060313
I hate Kevin Hart with the force of a thousand suns but he grew on me on me.Watch it already.
it's more colorful than previous movie from that studio.
Hey, /co/!!!Uranus
Loved the books as a kid, I guess I'll give it a watch tonight. Is it just an animated version of the first few books, like how the trailer made it seem, or is it all new?
>>95061192
It's partially that, but a lot of the humor and some plot points are new, while still being really in tone with the books.
really surprised by this film
actually made me lel
They really did keep faithful to the source material
>>95061113
>>95061192
>>95061227
It pretty much has more in common with a comic book adaptation in that regard.
>>95061113
I don't get it
>>95063949
Get the fuck out, Melvin.
>>95061192
It's basically the first and fourth books combined along with some new stuff added in.
thi movie is not for everybody, not saying it's bad, but some might not find the humour appropriate.
>>95061113
lel
>movie is called "The First"
>you have no sense of humour, like a chair, or supermodel!

amazing
>>95064499
It always guarentees there will never be a sequel
>>95060511
i don't think any actually
>>95059996
He had very little to do with it, it's just that the crew had a lot of passion for the series, and it showed.
>>95061113it feels so good to laugh!
>>95061113
>>95060561
hey,i loved that movie
>>95064499
its called like that because thats how the book was called
>>95061113
>>95061113
Gdi
To anyone who read the books, was it faithful?
>>95070315
It was a childrens book that left out a lot of details, so they had to take a lot of liberties.
>>95071028
that lunch lady krupp had a romance with in the movie was super cute
>That Hope Dies Here plaque
This fucking movie man, I wanna rewatch it already.
>The Flip-O-Rama scene
>>95068730
I could have really gone without the shoehorned kid. Some minor plot revisions, and they could have removed the biggest annoyance in that film, that would have made it much better.
>I was just admiring ze view from your broken window.
>It's in ze shape of a man.
>>95070315
About as faithful as a movie can get to an entire series. It's not a complete 1:1, but an amalgam of the first 5 books.
>>95071209>He rips the page
Way too relatable
>How many A's are there in tra la la?
how well did this movie do box-office wise?
>>95074466
Not very

It made back twice its budget, so it wasn't a real failure.
She tried to do another voice but it just sounds like Louise or Mabel doing a silly voice in character.. took me out of the movie when she shows up
>>95064950
The Pokemon Movie was called 'Pokemon: The First Movie'
Now they got 20 of those fuckers running around
>>95075665
Pokemon is an outlier among fads for numerous reasons however (for one thing still not being dead nor having any signs of dying anytime soon)
>>95075665
The second movie was already out in Japan when the first movie got to America.
>>95075578
I at least appreciated them trying to give some depth to Krupp
>>95077032i relate to him

He'd be a good influence on Section 8, I think.

The Emoji Movie made more money.
>>95078146
you never notice how much they put work into their movies, no matter how weird they are
>>95078196
that movie is such an insult.
>>95078196
It's mostly down to the release date though. Everyone was too busy seeing Wonder Woman to bother with Captain Underpants. If this movie was given Boss Baby's release date it probably would've fared better.
Still, Dreamworks did Kung Fu Panda 3 and are doing How to train your dragon 3 despite disappointing box office results, so there's still hope for a sequel.
I mean, with a title like 'The First epic movie', they'd look pretty awkward not to.
>>95078146
Jesus the care they put in this
>>95078519
remember when people shat on dreamworks?
were they right?
>A tiny school, filled with tiny children, and ze tiny teachers who's tiny salaries reflects their size and also ze values society put on education!"

>Isn't laughter the best medicine?
>Medicine is the best medicine!
>>95078418
so there a class room with just black boards set up all over the walls or did they set that up just for this occasion
>>95078939
Yes.
Can't you watch an actually mature movie, made for your demographic? You guys are so immature!
>>95079349
you're a perfect candidate for academy award jury.
>>95079349
Shut up, Melvin.
>>95078486
Not to mention CU didn't seem to have great advertising.
>>95070315
There was no "Remember that now".
It also paints the school staff as more sympathetic and George and Harold are less ambiguous in terms of how mean their pranks could be since the books did have them target rather indiscriminately whereas in the movie (((they))) describe their pranks as being for the benefit of students and that's also largely what we're shownand P is just evil from the start.
>>95074466
Not great I hear. But that's mostly down to dreadful mismanaging for release dates and marketing.
I'm also infuriated that I was able to watch an HD rip of this movie before it actually aired in cinemas where I am and it's still not going to be out for an entire month.
>>95080015
New Zealand here man, I feel you. Still, go see it in theatres, dude. The movie deserves your money
I'm watching it now and it's great.
wow, something /co/ related that /co/ actually like
this movie must be really good
>>95080277
>>95080355
dubs confirm
and also the fact that it's a really fucking good movie
>>95080277
Update: I've finished watching it and it's amazing.
>>95080015
my poor german neighbour.
>>95081068
it's n acquired taste, some kids loved it, some people disliked it and found next scene less funny that previous one
>>95074466
It only made $101.1 million, but it was also the lowest-budgeted computer-animated feature of DreamWorks Animation's history ($38 million), so actually it was a big success.
>>95061113
>>95059996
The best adaptation I've seen since Peanuts.
>>95060050
What's interesting is that Dav was relieved when David Soren was picked to direct (after Rob Letterman step down to be executive producer) since he was a big fan of Turbo.
>>95072602
Four, actually. There really wasn't anything from Wedgie Woman aside from a couple cameos.
is there atorrentof this movie up yet?
>>95061113
Surely this joke doesn't work in all languages, right? I wonder what they'll replace it with in the international dubs
>>95081736
Why don't you just type it in to TPB?
But yeah, here's 4gb/1080p Blu re-encode since the torrents with the most seeders are never decent bitrate:

>>95079349
Fuck off Melvin you little stuck up cunt
i feel a little left out that i never read these as a kid. i'm not sure why,
i'll watch the movie anyway,
why couldn't they get actual kids to do the voices of the kids?
how hard is it to find some kids? i'm sure Disney have some stashed away in a warehouse or something
>>95082032
Does /co/ hate TPB or not? I swear you can never recommend it as a place to get torrents now without getting angry (You)s which sucks because most of the other good alternates are dead now. A few years ago you'd be laughed at for streaming stuff but because torrents are so actively hunted by companies now using sites like Kimcartoon isn't even a stigma anymore.
Is MEGA the only thing that doesn't make /co/ flip out? Why? There's a download limit and even being slightly techy I can't get the workarounds to function.
>>95082138
Because children can't act and sound obnoxious.
>>95082139
I have torrented nearly every day for over a decade and never gotten any notice whatsoever from my ISP. Only HBO stuff is particularly dangerous in that regard
Honestly, for new release stuff TPB is usually the best bet (for anything obscure you better have some private tracker accounts, MySpleen is essential for the /co/mrad). You just have to know what you're doing and have an adblocker. Used to prefer Kickass but alas it's gone now. I never watch pirate streams because they are a shit
Also MEGA is used widely because it and Google Drive are basically the only filehosts that aren't filtered on here, also files tend to stay alive for years. I just use JDownloader for all non-torrent downloads and I rarely if ever run into MEGA's download limit with it
>>95082139
Those streaming sites aren't a stigma because of young teenagers without real computers shitting up the board. I truly despise them all
true fans remember the voices from the flash games on the site
they had a PERFECT captain underpants voice
also what happened to pilkey's readable "furious george" book that was on there?
removed for being too violent?
>>95078542
now it's Pixar: hey lets make an uplifting story about family and friendship
and they all make this face: (crying face)
I'm 26, I never read the books as a child and now I feel like I'm missing out because I thought the movie was pretty good
>>95083751
actually, pixar movies were formulatic nearly from the start. we just didnt knew it till now.
>>95059996
I'm glad Mr. Krupp wasn't just evil and actually got some development. It's a shame it won't get a sequel because of the box office performance.
>>95074965
Does anyone legit care about this?
Personally, I like the way it was handled, and I think it's how all couples should be treated in fiction. A simple "Oh hey, he has a husband" or whatever, instead of basically hanging a glowing neon sign that reads "gay" above the character every time he's on screen.
I feel this way about every couple too. I'm not a big fan of gratuitous displays of effection in general. I prefer to see the actual meat and intimacy of a relationship private. Makes it more meaningful, IMHO.
>>95084243
SHHH!
