Anyway, originally it was because his vocal chords were damaged, then it was said to be because his vocal chords hardened with age, then Lanning wrote a backup for Bendis' GOTG where all Groots spoke this way. In a flashback during Skottie Young's series he couldn't speak properly circa Conquest, and now Duggan is hinting that it has something to do with him being diminished.

Groot is simultaneously one of the least developed and most frequently altered characters in comics. It's not really worth caring about IMO, though there is at least one guy on /co/ who carries a ridiculous torch for Giffen's version of the character.

you're right my bad he was in the Starlord mini before Conquest but he did speak in full sentences
