Why does fatphobia run so rampant in comics and cartoons?
There's little to no positive representation.

There are positive fat characters all over the place in cartoons because they're fun to animate. Comics, it's an aesthetic thing.

And wasn't it implied his "NEVER CHANGE EVER" power prevents him from getting a boner too?

Butterball is suffering.

Being overweight literally has no benefits.
It's unhealthy, and we shouldn't allow people to think it's something that they should be proud of.
Fat acceptance literally kills people.

Agreed, and I get it, I really do, be positive about your self Image and all, I support that. What I do not support is the mentality that being unhealthy is who some one is and who they are supposed to be. Fuck that, if you don't think about or love your self, at least think about the people around you that love you.

I know this is hard to except for fatties, because they already have such a negative outlook about them selves that they excepted their fate as fucking land whales, but (and its a big one) yes there are People who love you and would hate to see you go because of a heart attack or diabetes or (insert a fat illness here) condition.

What's positive about being fat?
>>
Considering how much Faith moves around she wouldn't actually be fat desu.

I don't mind fat characters, if it makes sense that they're fat. Some dude who sits at home all day building and controlling robots remotely to fight crime, that makes sense for a fat character. People need to stop pretending like being fat is just RNG, and accept it as a result of the individual's behaviors.

If you're going to have a character who's fat, you don't necessarily need to have a good reason for it, but you can't put a fat character in a position where it physically doesn't make sense and expect not to be criticized for it.
>>
>>94875302
>Why does fatphobia run so rampant in comics and cartoons?

Because it is unhealthy and ugly.

Then again modern cape comics have a superhero whose power is having super advanced cancer, so having a fat hero is a logical extrapolation.

I wonder when Marvel or DC will introduce a character whose power is carrying the bubonic plague.

Part of the issue is also that if some one says "Fat" it isn't indicative of HOW Fat they are talking about, for example i don't mind a bit of chub if the chubster wearing it isn't a asshole, but if i actually say that people will assume im chasing morbidly obese landwhales, and reality is that if you actually keep in shape loads of fatties WILL be assholes to you and act generally unsupportive and sometimes even actively try to sabotage you.

You can see how it is abused with how "A bit of fat heightens life-expectancy" articles are taken out of context and are STILL used wrongly as excuse by whales to justify their poor feeding habits.

Why would you want to portray something negative as if it was something positive?
Fat people don't need fat rolemodels to reinforce their fatness, they need help to stop being fat.
>>
>>94875870
Does Infectious Lass count for DC.
>>
>>94875302
Because "positive representation for fat people" always means "look at this strong, plus sized woman!"
No one is clamoring to tell guys their beer gut or man boobs are attractive, it's clearly just something fat chicks do to make themselves feel better about being unfuckable.
>>
>>94875637

On the other hand, if you get stranded on a dessert island it'll likely cause an obesity problem.

She started flipping the fuck out and yelling at me, went and told my boss I was being fat phobic. I wish I was fucking joking. My boss had to send both of us to HR. Sent hambeast to anger management and made me take sensitivity classes.

I see the concept of a fat hero like Faith as no different than a super-strong hero who gets no combat training.

Like, yeah, he might have enough sheer strength to have an edge over normal people. But he's still weaker than if he actually knew how to fight. It's not as though he's foregoing the training because it wouldn't do anything: he's foregoing it because he just doesn't care about being stronger. He doesn't care enough about doing good.

Faith isn't like Bertha, where her powers revolve around manipulating her mass. She is weaker than she would be if she were in better shape. Sure, she has powers that make her useful DESPITE her weight, but that's not an excuse for being apathetic about it. She's the very antithesis of a superhero, content that she's doing enough to help the world and showing no desire to do more if it means doing things personally inconvenient to her.
>>
>>94876937
Really, you think fat in that excessive quantity will taste good? I guess it is a "Steamed Carrots are my comfort food" thing then.
>>
>>94875528
Fat people don't deserve positive representation.

They lack the self control to stop gorging themselves on high-calorie foods and lack the effort to get up an jog a bit so their hearts don't clog up.

Not to mention the numerous forms of escapism they resort to when you so much as point them towards a salad:
>big is beautiful!
>it's because I was abused as a kid!
>it's a glandular problem! My genetics are at fault!
>WOW. I literally cannot believe you fat shamed me

They're obnoxious, unhealthy, stupid, and above all; scum. You and the other morons defending their awful behavior aren't doing them any favors. You're giving them the greenlight to gorge themselves to death over hurt fee-fees, and if it were my choice I'd have everyone like you be put down for being terrible human beings.

Faith is like a social marxist version of that one christian manga.

>>94875985
>Coop is regularly portrayed as out of shape

Yeah, because he's fat.

Being fat is bad. It's a flaw. Fat people can have great character traits, but being fat is not one of them. Being fat should never be presented as a virtue because it's not one.
>>
>>94877010
She doesn't have to do anything, having superpowers doesn't obligate you to help other people and the fact she's using them to save the day is a bonus. you're just being bitchy.
>>
>>94875863
Obesity becomes chronical past a certain theshold unless you start cutting of the depleted fat cell deposits - which is outright dangerous
>>
>>94875302
Representation means that you produce comics for the purpose of joining the club and selling, without actually having anything to say. Just feeling included.
Then what? Batman wasn't created to cater to the rich, nor Superman to aliens or big hunks of meat or journalists. They were created as heroes.

If you expect representation of any kind of sexual/social/racial/religious group you are a huge retard and should stay away from comics, because you don't want a comic about a good story: you want to masturbate about you being part of a group that matters.
And no group matters. We're all faggots on this world so better suck it up.
>>
>>94875302

>>
>>94879016

Leland had a very very cool superpower, and I have never seen another character with that same power, changing the mass of things, which can be used in very creative ways (throw a golf ball, make it very heavy mid air causing a lot of damage when it falls, or the opposite, make something very light and unable of hurting you, or even be able to jump like in the moon or be carried by the wind by becoming very light).

It would be cool if it is revealed he had a son or daughter, who would turn 13 or 14 now, with the same power, and he/she joins the xmen school. It would be a kid from a wealthy family too.
