Seriously, though, I would have a hard time imagining any of my female friends talking like this. And as a writer, it's all very ... uninteresting and hokey, the way he wrote it.

How is a clean break akin to a distraction? They're polar opposites. A clean break is ending something without leaving anything extra behind. Distractions are what make clean breaks difficult.

Also, isn't this a distraction? All they have to do is change the topic, and she can distract herself with learning about Mindy.

Not only is this horribly confusing wording, but it doesn't really make sense here either. I know she's hearing Mindy echo her own sentiments, but that's on literally one topic.

If they got to know each other and if they actually started dating, their views would change. So that's not really a good excuse either.

Working on recording some audio for the audio version of DoA (ask VA Anon about it), and I actually found a strip where he clearly didn't copy-pasta the characters in the last two panels. Check it out.
