I've got one in mind I like best:

>Weakest character of the group eventually becomes stronger.
>They still remain the weakest character IN the group, but their physical prowess and development is still quite visible.

I've seen it done with Ron Stoppable in Kim Possible, but I liked it done best with Usopp, he started at the bottom and now he's got fucking Haki. Oda even admitted that the point of Usopp wasn't to be the "weakest character", but to demonstrate how powerful a normal person can become within the setting and I really like that.

I've only ever seen this in One Piece, but its when the hero is wearing a disguise and when shit goes down he reveals himself, and there's a crowd of onlookers in shock and awe of who just appeared before them. I also love civilian fanfare when the Hero is fighting the bad guy, not in an arena of course. I hated Dress Rosa but they did this pretty well with Doflamingo.
