Betty brought back by Bruce Jones, but the whole run is written off as a nightmare immediately afterwards.
Betty comes back as Red She-Hulk, cucks Bruce with Tyrannus.
Bruce and Betty are briefly together afterwards, but mostly in different books.
Bruce cures Betty of her Hulk powers, then Hawkeye killed Bruce.

>Scarlet Witch and Vision,

Byrne begins his West Coast Avengers run with Vision missing.
By the time the team arrive to rescue him, it's too late, he's been dismantled.
Byrne puts a lot of time and effort into convincing readers than Vision isn't a person, you shouldn't think of him as a person, and Wanda was insane to love him.
Byrne keeps piling tragedy and trauma onto Wanda until she does go insane.
Vision is rebuilt in body but not in mind, he has no memory of his past, and no emotions.
Byrne pushes the idea that Vision was 100% a copy of Wonderman, who is "the real Vision", and should be with Wanda.

Roy & Dann Thomas take over West Coast Avengers, try to quickly kill the idea of a Wanda/Wonderman romance.
Wonderman gets a solo book by Gerard Jones, which ignores WCA and writes Wanda as having feelings for Wonderman, and having a one night stand with him even after he hit her.
Bob Harras' Avengers run and Vision miniseries slowly fix most of the damage done to Vision, and then start teasing a slow reunion with Wanda.
Busick's Avengers has Wonderman come back from the dead to cuck Vision, and spends years pushing Wanda/Wonderman as a love stronger than death, only to back down and break them up towards the end of his run.
Geoff Johns takes over Avengers, starts getting Wanda and Vision back together.
As soon as Johns leaves, Priest's Captain America & Falcon book grabs Wanda as a love-interest for Steve.
Avengers Disassembled kills Vision, and this story, together with House of M, leaves Wanda unusable for years.
Vision finally returns just before AvX, the event that brings Wanda back to the Avengers. Over the story, Vision moves from anger at Wanda, to saving her life, briefly teasing a possible reunion.
Bendis repeatedly tries to push the idea of Wanda and Hawkeye as a couple, including right after AvX.

Ben has a short romance with the She-Thing.
DeFalco revealed that Johnny actually married a Skrull impersonating Alicia, the FF rescue the real Alicia, but she and Ben don't get back together.
Alicia has a relationship with Silver Surfer while the FF are believed dead.
Ben and Alicia finally get back together before Civil War, then break up off-panel so Ben can date a school teacher in Millar's FF.
Ben and Alicia get back together again in Hickman's FF, just before Johnny died.

>Quicksilver and Crystal

Entire romance happened off-panel, and was used to write them out of Avengers and FF, then retire them.
They spend around 15 years making occasional guest-appearances in books.
Englehart breaks them up because he hated Quicksilver, has Crystal cuck Pietro with some Normie, then Pietro becomes an insane villain.
Pietro's insanity, and Crystal's adultery are both blamed on Maximus, but the retcon only sticks for Pietro.
No writer except Bob Harras cared about getting them back together, the work he did was dropped soon afterwards.
In the 2000s, Quicksilver becomes an insane villain again, killing any chance of a reunion.
Crystal marries Ronan the Accuser.

>Tony Stark and Alcohol

Tony breaks up with Alcohol in the Michelinie/Layton run on Iron Man.
They get back together in the O'Neill run, Tony is seriously committed to making it last this time.
Tony breaks up with Alcohol again anyways, chooses being Iron Man instead.
Comics keep teasing a reunion, but Alcohol starts a new relationship with Carol Danvers, and Tony gets jealous.
Carol eventually dumps Alcohol.
Tony has a one night stand with Alcohol during the Fear Itself crossover, but they never see each other again after.

Never actually married in the comics.
Relationship ends in the 1980s when Thor is magically seduced by the Enchantress' sister Lorelei, and hits Sif.
While Thor and Sif are not together in the 1980s and 1990s, she develops feelings for both Beta Ray Bill and Thunderstrike.
Thor and the Enchantress are a couple in the mid-1990s, and again from around 2002 to 2004, then all the Asgardians die in a Ragnarok.
JMS' Thor series has Thor return and resurrect the Asgardians, and from here on, Thor and Sif are written as a couple again, but Loki stole Sif's body.
Thor has now lost Sif, Mjolnir, his arm, and his name.

Until the current series, Strange went about 20 years without an ongoing book.
His marriage to Clea seems to have been forgotten in the time between then, so writers could give him civilian love-interests, often as point-of-view characters.

Bernie Rosenthal was written out of Cap's series in the mid-1980s, by Mark Gruenwald, he seemed to intend to use her from there on, the same way Stern wanted to use MJ,
as a 'spoiler' character, to walk back into Steve's life every few years, and cause relationship problems for him.
After he last used her, she next showed up over 15 years later, now living with another old Cap supporting-cast character.

Diamondback left Captain America in the final years of Gruenwald's Cap run.
They reunited during Avengers Disassembled, but it turned out to be a an android impersonating Diamondback.
Diamondback and Constrictor were a couple during Avengers: The Initiative.
Spencer's Falcon Cap book revealed that Constrictor died, and Diamondback couldn't get a job so became a stripper.

Scott cucks Jean with "psychic sex" with Emma.
Jean is killed by Xorn, impersonating Magneto, impersonating Xorn.
Every writer since has followed Morrison in treating Scott and Jean like it was always a bad, dysfunctional pairing, to make Scott and Emma look better in comparison.
No writer can think of anything to do with Jean other than "make her Phoenix again" or "love triangle with Scott and Logan".

Scott goes anyway because he needs to see with his own eyes if Jean is really back from the dead.
Maddie somehow has more fans than Scott does, and they're angry.
Scott thinks Maddie has left him, then thinks she's been killed.
She's actually been kidnapped, gets rescued by the X-Men, never attempts to contact Scott and let him know.
Scott and Jean get together a year after he thinks Maddie died.
Maddie becomes a villain with the sluttiest costume, tries to kill her own baby, later sleeps with Nate Grey.
