VA isn't bad, simply inappropriate. He is a 12 year old that sounds like a 15 year old and it's jarring. And unlike Dr. Girlfriend it's not played as a joke.

Kids not sounding like kids isn't a problem if their voice actor is good, though. The old Powerpuff Girls, Dib and Gaz, Dexter (Lab), Billy & Mandy, Ed Edd n Eddy, Dipper and Mabel/Louise Belcher.

But Ducktales seems to be following Fairly Oddparents voice direction where all the kids need to deliver their lines by SCREAMING and not changing the tone or pitch in order to have better comedic timing.

Wait are the kids not all voiced by adults? I thought one was Abed from Community, another was the fat guy on SNL, and I forget the third.

Welcome to the world of "actually using a male VA to voice a child"

Digimon had this same problem, with its 10-14 year olds sounding like 25 year olds.

I think it's less about the VAs sounding like kids and more about creating an illusion that "yeah, I believe this character has this voice."

With the boys in Ducktales there's no illusion. I am never not painfully aware that these are a bunch of grown ass middle-aged men with a voice filter.
