What are some examples of early CG done right in /co/ media?
Specially hybrid stuff like pic related; that hydra looks awesome even by current standards

The Big Ben chase scene during The Great Mouse Detective is probably the earliest example I can think of that really worked.
I can't remember anything scene in particular, but I think Treasure Planet's CG also aged fairly well too.
Stampede in TLK was fine hybrid of 2D and cgi.
Treasure Planet CGi was shit though, too detached.

Well that's not so "early", but it does look great.

technically it's not cgi because it was printed on cels and painted

Wildebeest from Lion King
I actually didn't know they were cgi

Silver looked great though. But yeah, B.E.N. and the environment stuff were too shifty; not as bad as Titan A.E. but still

This led to Oliver & Company's CGI, which is also fairly decent. Some parts stick out, but the final chase scene was really well done. Apparently it was the first time Disney actually set up a full CG department for a film, after Great Mouse Detective's CGI proved successful.
If we're gonna talk really bad CGI, Road to El Dorado's CGI has aged like shit. But it's still a beautiful movie.

I'm fond of the Goofs' car in A Goofy Movie. It looks so simple and fun
