It's kinda weird, when I think about it. Only people in my generation have seen games take such massive leap from generation to generation.

I mean, first you are playing with a blocky screen who try to pretend it's no ugly, next you are playing with amazing Pixel art on the SNES/Megadrive, only to have your way of playing completely changed with the advent of the 3D (and complain, a lot, about how everything is back to being Ugly again too), to see the 3D graphic getting great again. It's kind of a "you had to be there" moment. Each new console was really exciting, because of the leap it had. No major lap like that will be possible again.

As it is, there's a huge variety of styles. you have the big bulgey-eyed ones like Vanessa and a couple of the fireside girls, you have weird-bodied ones like candace and doof, you have WEIRDLY weird ones like phineas and all the fletchers, and then you have Linda who looks relatively normal for the rest of the show, but still subtly weird in her facial proportions....

but yeah it's no different from simpsons and futurama, where the original cast looks mattgroeningy and then as time goes on people have smaller and more normal eyes and features

There may well be some slight tweaks in some of the designs to make them match better that didn't show up in the promotional image. They've already done that with some of the locations in Danville that are clearly the same places that we saw in Phineas and Ferb.
