At this rate, CGI animated films have pretty much crashed and burned. Even the weakest 2D films had some effort put into them.

I guess the current animation dark age is going to last even longer now and this time there's probably no way for it to end. Unless you go to Japan or maybe Europe where the good animation only comes from.

Some of their movies, like Spark, weren't meant for theaters. Spark had a $10,000,000 budget and the director said it was supposed to go straight-to-streaming, but the studio got greedy and shoved it into theaters. At least with Spark, it was only in, like, 300 theaters nationwide. So when it bombed, it was expected. It had no marketing. There were no commercials.
