I just read this series, and I really didn't like it. Is there something wrong with me, or is this just a bad book?

I think it's pretty damn bad.
It's mostly praised for pushing the envelope at the time (i.e. openly referencing masturbation, shitting, etc)
I liked it but I totally get everyone's problems with it.
I normally hate shit that's like "lol aren't superheroes retarded". This I liked just because of the character.

I like it a lot. I get it if you don't, it's trying to take a page from Hellblazer and continually beat the character down

It's garage. Bendis at his most Bendis.

It's pretty goddamn awful, I still think Bendis has never written a single good thing in his career.

you don't even like his Daredevil?

I liked Ultimate Spider-Man, but the dialogue is Bendis Speak and Bagley's art repeats panels too much.

I've read two daredevil runs: the first was a ninja story written by bendis which wasn't good, and 'the end' which was pretty good but cowritten by David Mack.
When people say that 'bendis daredevil' was good, which do they mean?

Bendis disowned the Ninja story as being taken over by the artist. His run from 23-81 on vol. 2 is awfully damn good. His career best, easily, although I like the 2nd half of Alias a lot, so take that for what you will.

Ok, thanks for the heads up

You just got tricked, bitch.

Even if you hate the Bendis run for some reason, it leads into the AMAZING Brubaker run, so it's totally worth it. The Devil in Cell Block D is an all-time great.
