Honestly, this is what always killed me about the Killing Joke. It was influential to me when I was younger, it made a lot of sense, and I still feel like Moore intentionally wrote it to kind of side with the Joker and his nihilism; Batman's glowing defense of justice is all of two lines of "Lol no."

Which, I mean, isn't a problem at all, that wasn't the point of the work, focusing on the Joker's state of mind and "backstory" and all. But it always felt kind of limp unless you read it like he's dealt with this so much it doesn't even justify a response, which can be strong and interesting, but doesn't match Joker's emotional tone. Really, the way to shut him the fuck down would be something like that speech. That really rounds it back home, and actually almost fits perfectly.

My only complaints about her segments in the episode were that her line deliveries were too quick, like she had them already teed up and ready to fire, and that the coprophagia bits seemed like they were just tacked on to make her seem zanier (it would have been fine if her line deliveries felt more natural, though, but as is, it just makes my first criticism stick out more). Her scenes would have improved immensely if she had given off a more contemplative mood.

Rick's rapidfire insults and tirades are fine since he works off of his steam of thought, and that showcases his spontaneity and wit, as well as the fact that he gives off the impression that he's just sharing all of his preconceived notions and prejudices. Dr. Wong can't be like that because she's supposed to be trying to understand their family by their own merits instead of pigeonholing them into caricatures and stereotypes.
