Inhumans was Ike Perlmutter's passion project. Ike refused to make a female-led MCU movie because his focus is on selling merchandise and he figured a female superhero wouldn't move action figures. Feige, on the other hand, is a raging SJW and desperately wanted to do a Carol Danvers movie.

Their deal was that Ike got to have his Inhumans movie while Feige got to have his Captain Marvel movie. Feige didn't want to make Inhumans and Ike didn't want to make Captain Marvel, but they compromised on it. Then after AoU's failure, Feige ran to Alan Horn, the president of Disney and one of 2 people that have a higher share of Disney than Ike (the other being George Lucas) and blamed AoU's failure on Ike (which may or may not have actually been true, but he was a convenient scapegoat) and said that if Marvel Studios wasn't removed from under the Marvel Entertainment banner then he'd quit along with RDJ/Evans/etc.

So Horn removed Marvel Studios from Ike's control and handed it over to the Disney Studios CEO, who pretty much let Feige do whatever he wants. As a final fuck you to Ike, Feige removed Inhumans from the list of movies they were making and moved the release date of Captain Marvel up.

Ike responded with "well fuck you, I don't need you to make an Inhumans movie!" except since he literally wasn't allowed to make MCU movies, he had to make a TV show instead (since he still had Marvel Television) and rushed this fucking shit-show out the door.

>>
>>94493898
According to Feige, the only reason it underperformed was because Perlmutter wouldn't give them the budget they needed. Which may be true, but better cgi and the actors getting paid more wouldn't have fixed the script.

It underperformed from what they expected. It both made less money than Avengers 1, cost more to make than Avengers 1, and was less well received than Avengers 1. They had banked on it doing better.

So yeah, while it was a success that made plenty of money, it wasn't the massive success that they were expecting which in the world of big business makes it a failure in their eyes.

>>94493827
>and blamed AoU's failure on Ike (which may or may not have actually been true, but he was a convenient scapegoat)
Well, seeing how Ike made AoS an advertisement for Inhumans, it would figure he'd turn AoU into an ad for other films.
>>
>>94494055
Some people suspect that Ike sees Attilan as an analog for Israel. Ike is an Israelie expat and former Mossad assassin, so he'd have a soft-spot for that. Otherwise, yeah, that's the reason. Inhumans were Fantastic Four supporting characters and the closest thing Marvel had to a mutants equivalent, so Ike figured it was the perfect one-two punch against Fox.

But then when push came to shove and it was finally time to make this Inhumans movie/show, Perlmutter STILL skimped on the budget ontop of rushing it out the door ASAP while putting Scott Buck, fresh off of fucking up Iron Fist, on as the showrunner.
>>

It's really impossible to know exactly whose to blame. Sure Perlmutter was likely part of the problem, as was the Marve Creative Committee, but I highly doubt Feige and Whedon are blameless in all of this. I mean, you look at the movies that came out post Perlmutter:
>Civil War
>Dr. Strange
>GotG 2
>Homecoming
And... I mean, Civil War was good, but Dr. Strange was kinda disappointing, GotG 2 wasn't as good as 1, and Homecoming is filled with changes from the source material that, whether you like the MCC or not, they would have likely kept them from doing. So even with double the budgets, all the actors getting paid waaay more, and no longer having to answer to the Committee, it's not like the Phase 3 movies are leaps and bounds better than then Phase 1 or 2 movies.

We know who FEIGE blames for all of this, but that was an obvious power-play on his part so he would have twisted the facts in his favor to get what he wanted, and Perlmutter is too much of a recluse for us to really get his side.

The only thing we know for sure is that Perlmutter was horrible to work with on a budgetery side of things, but does an actor getting paid more make the movie better? Morale would probably be better, and you wouldn't have actors constantly wanting to quit out of their contracts, but their performances wouldn't necessarily improve just because they got more money.
>>
>>94490722

The tragic part is that the Inhumans were kinda cool already because they WEREN'T all over the place and shoved all up in your face... If nothing else I've always found the concept of Black Bolt, Medusa, and Karnaks powers/abilities really fucking interesting and Lockjaw is best dog in Marvel...

But they've basically ruined it all now, especially after casuals see this new show, it's gonna tank so fucking hard its not even funny, well maybe its a little funny.

Shitting the bed is messy, apparently.
>>
>>94494234
The Thor subplot was completely unnecesary. There was no need to have a fucking infinity stone shoved in Vision head if he doesn't fucking use it in the movie to defeat Ultron beyond just shooting lasers. They already had Vision as mix of Ultron and Jarvis AI's. Why the fuck do you need to complicate his existence adding an unnecesary item?

>>94494458
I kind of think that Civil War and Dr. Strange were lingering effects of Perlmutter. GOTG 2 I thought was spectacular and don't get the hate. In fact, look at GOTG 2 onwards and there is a striking visual style that's coming out of these future films.

It also seems that no committee means "Fuck comic continuity"
>>
>>94494897

Lol, yeah totally... they just painted him green and put the seam from the bottom of a garbage bag on his head, hahah.

The character looks even more strange than either Abe Sapien or The Creature from the Black Lagoon... and thats the best they can do? Buncha fuckwits.
>>
>>94494502
What annoys me so much about the Infinity Stones stuff is that there was no reason to explain them or hype them up in the film. In fact, all it does is confuse audiences. Let Infinity Wars reveal them all.
>>
>>94495041
Civil War was, since the switch over to no longer having Perlmutter was mid-CW. Dr. Strange was the first 100% Feige production.
>>
>>94495090
Civil War's opening act was noticably shotty special effects compared to what comes later in the film. But the thing is, look at the MCU beyond Dr. Strange. Everything looks like they're putting a lot more effects and time into the worlds they create. Like GOTG 2, Thor Ragnarok and Black Panther all look stunning. Spider-Man I blame on being cheaper and more simple film. I kind of think that they didn't have much time to really switch gears with Dr. Strange yet, though they did have effects going wild in some moments of that film.
>>
>>94495041
>It also seems that no committee means "Fuck comic continuity"

Yknow what... That might be the smartest fucking thing they could do now, once infinity war is done, switch gears and give no fucks about synergy and just make awesome fun movies with their characters... they can't sustain continuity in the MCU forever anyways currently because actors age/conflicts/contracts/etc.

Also would give them a chance in the floppies to go back to basics and de-syngergize all their shit.. which they desperately need.
>>
>>94495211
But, that's what they are doing in their films.
>>Mordo starts as Dr. Strange's friend
>>Kacelious is a major villain
>>Bucky killed Tony's parents
>>Ego is Starlord's father

THEY ARE LITERALLY SAYING FUCK CONTINUITY NOW!

>>
>>94494498
They were interesring when they were used in Cosmic Marvel, since cosmic marvel is now dead and Ike wants them to be their new x men inhumans have been nothing more than a nuisance.
>>
>>94495086
Aside from the time stone in Doctor Strange, the way they have introduced the infinity stones in the MCU has been a mess.

The reality stone in Thor: The Dark World was just a shitty flying goo for all the movie to turn the universe dark. They did not do anything interesting with it in the whole movie and you only get to know it is a fucking infinity stone in a poorly written, acted and shot post-credits scene. The tesseract is also revelead to be an infinity stone in that same scene, but so far we have only seen it opening a portal in the sky. If it was a fucking infinity stone from the very beggining Loki could have used it to bring his whole army to Earth in the blink of an eye. The movie never did that because of course having the teserract be an infinity stone was just a shitty retcon.

The mind stone did fuck all in Age of Ultron. Oh look, here is the all powerfull infinity stone, if it touches you it will turn you into a mindless drone. Why not erase memories with it?. Or have the characters gain new knowledge? What about change the morals and ideology of a few Avengers to turn them againts their teammates without sucking all the charisma and personality out of them?. The movie had Wanda messing with the Avengers heads and showing them their fears and regrets. Why did the writers not have Ultron using the mind stone to inflict that damage upon them?. That would have shown the audience the dangers of the infinity stone and justify its inclussion in the story.
>>

Head-fin in comics has been drawn very inconsistently over the decades.
>>
>>94495194
Well yeah, they have higher budgets to work with since they don't have Perlmutter's insanely small budgets to work around. That doesn't necessarily make the movies better though, just a bit more visually striking. No one is going to claim that Dr. Strange didn't LOOK awesome, but it just wasn't anything special from a writing or acting standpoint.

>>
>>94496457
Wanda and Pietro's powers don't come from it.

Feige has clearly stated Wanda's powers don't come from it, they were merely unlocked by it.

Wanda's mind powers replace her mutant probability powers.

But as in the comics she has magic underneath that, powering everything.
Feige pretty much said "chaotic magic" and dumb people did not pick up on that.

Thanos wants order and balance, the stones a represent order, while Vision refers to humans (and Thanos) thinking Order and Chaos are opposites.
>>
Mind Stone was a CPU then Wanda touched the cradle and it started dreaming.
>>
>>94497444
How did the Mind stone unlock those powers then?

And how do Quicksilver's powers fit in with your Chaos Magic explanation?
>>
>>94497315
It's funny because most of the Inhumans are supposed to be weird looking aliens.

They even got rid of Gorgon's goat legs.
>>
>>94497694
He still has them. You can see them briefly in the trailer. It's just that they hide his legs in shadows for like 95% of the scenes it looks like so they don't have to bother with them unless absolutely necessary. He still doesn't have the satyr legs though.
>>
>>94497545
The mind stone augmented Pietro's mind, enabling him to use latent speed powers.
The Mind Stone does not control speed or space so it could not give what it does not have.

The stones are always fatal to normie humans, as established in GotG, and the huge pile of bodies Strucker refers to.

Quill had part of Ego's essence in him and that helped him survive the power stone.

Wanda and Pietro being the only survivors, perhaps, dare I say it, suggests they survived for a similar reason that Peter Quill did.

It's possible Stark was immune to the mind stone when Loki tried to use it due to the arc reactor's tesseract based power negating it.
>>
>>94496567
>tfw the normies won't get the fuck out

The worst part is that the jacket actually is the same cut as her comic jacket so clearly someone working on her design looked at what she looked like in the comics and wasn't just going off of a random text blurb and nothing else. But like... the cut of the jacket is so much less important than HAVING BIG FUCKING EARS.

Fucking Agents of SHIELD did a better job with the make-up on their inhumans. Lash, Raina, Gordon, they all at least had that eerie inhuman look to them even if Raina/Gordon were OCs and Lash didn't look like his comic counterpart. Hive only showed up for one scene but he looked like a tentacly monstrosity in that scene.

This though... Auran looks nothing like Auran. Gorgon's defining characterstic, his legs/feet, are always hidden by shadows. Triton is the only one they actually bothered to try and make look inhuman and he just looks like Squidward.
>>
>>94501381
Ego being Star-Lord's father made for a more interesting antagonist, and a more interesting film overall. If they had stuck with J'Son, that would've been what Bendis wants, in addition to being a retread origin story. Turning Quill's father into an eldritch entity allowed Gunn to do a lot of interesting things with the character and his personality.
