>steven doesn't have a mom
>KO doesn't have a dad
>clarence doesn't have a dad
>gumball and darwin are from a dysfunctional family
>finn doesn't have parents at all
>same thing with panda, grizzly, and ice bear
how come modern cartoon network is all about kids (I guess "people" in general if you include the bears) from broken homes?

Same reasons most kids and teens in Disney movies are just orphans.

>finn doesn't have parents at all
Anon...

It's a generation thing, just like most dad's from 80s and 90s cartoons being office guys.

Dude, animation as a WHOLE hates parents. Its probably because by getting rid of the parents or making the parents irresponsible, it allows for a larger variety of stories where the characters do shit that by all logical reasoning a responsible parent would not let them do.
Parents are morons in shows because kids see them as morons. That's been true forever. It's a business thing, it makes shows more relatable/marketable for kids.

Attentive, responsible parents are a major obstacle to fun adventures.
This is true across all forms of media.

Those two are just bad parents and boring characters

Steven has 3 moms, or at least 2 and a sister.
Haven't seen OK
Chad is basically a stepdad.
Wouldn't say gumball family is dysfunctional, it's just most of the responsibility is deposited on Nicole.
Finn has parents, one was a scammer and the other was an AI
I don't watch bears.

Only Steven's mom being dead is relevant to the plot
>>94462328
Because broken homes are the norm now. That shift started in the 80s.

Finn had parents. They were dogs. They were Jake's parents.

divorce rates started skyrocketing right after ww2. it's been the norm for like 70 years
