Personally I first started liking him more in late Season 1 when he was no longer presented as the main villain-- just the acknowledgment on the show's part that him being incompetent was ultimately a bad thing for both himself and Star sort of helped redeem the formulaic LUDO SUCKS appearances early on.

Liked the character as more than just a plot device to set up better things in Season 2 when they had him get competent, when it would have been easy for them to simply throw the character away forever after the previous season. Impressive both in the show and on the crew's part. Sad backstory didn't do much for me at the time, but the fact he'd been led along the entire season had the potential to be interesting. Was worried it'd just be too much Toffee-possessing-Ludo and sorta suppress his character development, since that plot WAS kind of a retread of the first season, but hoped instead it'd explore how he's unaware of it and how he'd take this manipulation and inevitable rejection.

Luckily the third season totally delivered on that by keeping the possession stuff to the minimum and going into more depth re: his character than I'd expected. Great illustrations of his inferiority and denial about being used once again; they hit really hard and got more emotional than I think they ever would have imagined treating this character at the beginning of the series.

It's great how much they've developed him. At this point he's ended up much better than Toffee, which is impressive considering so much of Toffee's appeal originally came from being better than Ludo.

It's up to Disney whether they get merchandise, not Nefcy (she's actually said she wishes there were toys), and apparently so far all they've chosen to release are books. It sort of makes sense there's not a lot of stuff: premium channel, not incredibly well known, etc.

On the one hand I sort of appreciate the lack of merchandise, keeps the universe/audience reception "pure" in a way: for example, Star can get a new outfit and fans will just think it's cute rather than HURRR THE MOUSE MUST WANT TO SELL EVEN MORE STAR DOLLS. I'm not that anon, but i want to repost his thoughts here

>Guys, I am not very good at theorizing into the deeper aspects of the Dies Irae theory but I have read the majority of the discussion about it in the numerous Star vs. threads that I have lurked since the first posts outlining it. I still believe its more of a motif/theme than an overarching plot-director but, nonetheless, I do know that Ludo's significance has been debated and, largely, that there is little agreement regarding his role within Dies Irae.

The portion at the end of the premiere when Star and Toffee are both within him and how they both posessed him at different points resonates as to how humanity is fought over by the good and evil represented figuratively by temptations of Hell versus Heaven. Moreover, the way Ludo questions his own role in the conflict that, to an omniscient audience, seems to be between powers largely above him between the two battling parties (Heaven and Hell). Ludo questions his free will and, as I said, I am not a prominent expert on the Dies Irae theory and, as such, unsure what this seems to imply in terms of the complete idea. Moreover, with the introduction of Toffee and Eclipsa, the conflict in Star vs. seems to have expanded further beyond a two-party conflict as simple as Heaven vs. Hell within Dies Irae and, as has been noted in previous threads, serves as the reason that Ludo is difficult to pinpoint. However, I defend Ludo's role as humanity in that, as we saw in Ludo in the Wild, he is, indeed, capable on his own, and, as I choose to believe, the Bible discusses our free-will and purely human capabilities and serves in characterizing Ludo developing from season 1.

I'd like to think there's girls out there that like the "Marco type". So yea, its possible. The thing is, Marco has ability and has spent years of his life doubting himself and sitting in a state of self pity. He's not some manchild, he just has little to no self confidence. Even Star said something like "Marco taught me how to mope, and self pity, and that's all I have now".
Being in that state doesn't necessarily make you weak, some women seem to think that makes a guy more complex. But there's a misconception to what "emotional guy" means. They don't want a guy who cries over having to do small little things in life, they want a guy with a bit of darkness in him, someone who's been through some suffering and came out alive on the other end. Someone who actually understands that the world isn't all sunshine and lollypops, so they could feel safer around him. Someone able to articulate his feelings properly, and actually FEEL something, instead of just pushing it down under some macho bravado facade. (Some girls want that, fake or not, and those girls aren't for "Neds" probably)
Or ya know. You just gotta pretend you've got something to offer to get your foot in the door in the first place and THEN slowly show your vulnerable side.
I still think a girl like Star would wander off from a party and find the one quiet guy outside on the balcony. Wonder why he's out pondering the night sky instead of inside partying. She's the type who would ask you a personal question when she meets you and cuts the "hows the weather" small talk.

So do they exist? Maybe. There's really only one way to find out.

Star's not living with the Diazes anymore, and the show revolves around her.
The new intro and outro don't feature Earth at all, or even any Earth characters except Marco and Janna.
If anything, Marco's room being connected to Butterfly Castle in the intro suggests that he'll be moving in with her, eventually.

There's still going to be a few Earth episodes, Marco still has a life on Earth without Star, and he can visit her anytime with his dimensional scissors. Ferguson and Alfozono were confirmed to show up again in Season 3, so we're not going straight into full fantasy adventure mode.
But when Eclipsa gets loose, which will be sooner than later, shit's going to hit the fan fast and hard. That threat will be the motivator for Marco to leave for Mewni on an indefinite basis.

She did more than just make Star jealous, she was integral to Marco gaining confidence in himself and being comfortable in his own skin. Sometimes relationships don't work out and I think that Marco and Jackie and still be friends after. Maybe not Jackie and Star, but I think she'd treat Marco fairly.

I expect the former to force the latter.
I don't think Marco told her he was going after Star. When he comes home I expect that Jackie's going to be upset about him wasting the first few weeks of what was supposed to be their first summer together as a couple, enough that she'll finally confront him about how he keeps neglecting her for Star. They'll talk it out and Marco will resolve to finally make an effort to actively spend time with his girlfriend.

The new status quo of Marco going back and forth daily between Earth and Mewni will continue for a while, Marco will still hang out with Star a lot but they're not living together anymore. Star will be trying her best to be satisfied with just being friends with Marco, but of course her feelings are going to keep tempting her to push the boundaries of their friendship. Jackie ought to be wary of Star now, and I doubt Star's going to go out of her way to try to patch things up between them, but she's still a good person and trusts Marco so she'll tell herself that his visits to Mewni don't bother her so much, as long as he keeps making time for her like he promised.

Eventually though, Eclipsa will be freed, putting Star and Mewni itself in imminent danger. Marco will of course want to help his friend in her time of need again, but it's not the kind of situation that's going to be fixed in an afternoon, and it needs more attention than can be given just going back and forth every day.
Jackie's not okay with the idea of him leaving again, ditching her on Earth for a few more weeks of "their" summer. She's not going to ask him to choose, because she knows what he would do and his good reason for doing it, but it still hurts. She'll be the one to leave, sick of worrying about him, sick of being alone.
I like to think that the last thing she'll say to him is "I wish I had a friend like you."

So people are still acting as if Jackie won't be in the show because she wasn't in the intro

They aren't. Star vs. is going to (hopefully) go back to a weekly release, it's just that the first seven episodes of season three were able to be shown all at once. With the extra time, we're hopeful that Nefcy and her team won't abuse the hiatus, and will deliver an even better product for us in November.

I heard a theory that Ludo was a descendant of Eclipsia, but Toffee wasn't, which was why Toffee needed to involve Ludo in this plan in the first place (in season 1, Glossy said only princesses could use the book.) But that theory sort of got sank with the beginning of season three since Toffee was able to own the book.

This whole thing assumes that the "dipping down" thing is something exclusive to the Butterfly line, which is why non-Royal Mewmans haven't been mentioned as being able to do it, and why Eclipsia eloping with a monster was a big deal because magic is what gives Mewmans power over the monsters, so they don't want the monsters to have their own magical line of royals.

I made it a long time ago, as a place to recover my art in case my hard drive died (which is did sometime a while ago, so I guess making it was a good idea after all.) I'm also the admin for indiegames booru (although it's mainly just an imagedump of Lisa the Painful and Darkest Dungeon), and mod for the Gravity Falls booru (which is mostly abandoned now, but makes a nice archive) and Loud House booru (most active booru I help with, but with increased activity comes increased retards.)

Btw, if there are any artfags here, if you can make 10 small images, numbered 0-9, I can also update the counters to replace the generic catgirl ones.
