Disney Animation's next film is Ralph Breaks The Internet, releasing in November of 2018

Within the time span of this and their last film Moana

>Illumination unleashed Sing, Minio... I mean Despicable Me 3 and plan to ruin The Grinch.... again

>Blue Sky plan to ruin a classic story

>Dreamworks unleashed The Boss Baby

>Sony Animation shat out 2 films and plan to shit out 4 more

>WB still plan to think people will care for Ninjago

>Pixar released a sequel no one wanted and plan to release another film no one wants

There are few bright spots, but otherwise, it's mostly pain and misery for animated feature films. How do you plan to plan hold out until then?
>>
>not liking boss baby
Someones never gotten their ass ate
>>
>>94355210
>and plan to release another film no one wants
People have been asking for The Incredibles 2 for years, fuck you. And don't try to say "I meant Toy Story 4", that's not releasing until mid 2019, well after the time span you're addressing.
>>
>>94355300
After posting this, I realized you were probably referring to Coco. In which case, yeah, I can maybe agree on that, considering I forgot it even exists.
>>
>>94355437
Yes, I was referring to Coco, thankfully Incredibles 2 is one of the few bright spots in that time span.
>>
>>94355256
>Someones never gotten their ass ate

*Someone's never gotten their ass eaten
>>
>The Incredibles 2, where Bob not only has to save the world, but all of animation.
>>
Sing was comfy tho.

Also DreamWorks made Captain Underpants and as far as I'm concerned that makes up for Boss Baby and any other bad film they made in the past.

Also I misread the OP post as "Ralph Bakshi's The Internet".

Boss Baby was perfectly acceptable child kino. Seriously though it was completely innofensive and a fresh IP. It also lacked obnoxious pop culture references and included a comically retarded strongbaby. Nothing wrong with any of that.

Eh, Ninjago might do ok even if the writing isn't as good as the previous 2 films, or the star power, or franchise backing it (Ninjago is original Lego material after all, so the budget is likely smaller from not needing to license anything). It'll be the kids again, and I doubt there will be much competition to it when it comes out.

Are you telling me that you don't still enjoy watching incredibles?

I also find it silly that they didn't make it sooner, but again, we got wall-e and other pearls out of it, so I'm more than okay with this trade
But I know that if I ever get kids in 15 years or so, I'll make them watch the incredibles
And wall-e
And inside out
And ralph
Just like people still enjoy watching old disneys, time means nothing for that shit Anon

>ralph references
Oh right, because the kids totally understood the starship troopers and old capcom videogames references that even half the board didn't get because they're too young?
Ralph was a great movie because of its originality, likeable characters and good story, not because of its 'references', those are just a bonus that some people will understand and others won't
If you base your movie's quality on the number of easter eggs you add to it, you can't get a sequel
>>
>>94357877
Disney is smart enough to know what people want and with their FVAEs they'll get even better at it

they're already pretty much the only people making good movies why not just make it official and get rid of everyone else

Incredibles was a good movie. The capeshit format allows for sequels/serials no matter how late they are.

There is a market for everything, you just need to find the right audience and the right crew that can deliver.

How about an animated horror movie? Horror sells pretty well: Saw, Purge, Conjuring, etc. Animated action? John Wick was successful. Animated war drama? Hacksaw Ridge, Dunkirk, Saving Private Ryan...
>>
>>94359652

What is your definition of a "mature story"?
>>
>>94359620
Well, Pixar did just that. And theyre atill around. Albeit under the umbrella of one of the titans of the industry.
>>
>>94358658
man, the rendering almost made me think that this was stop motion for a second

i guess we are finally getting there in full hyperrealistic textures
>>
>>94359804
Animated horror films generally fail or at best are moderate successes. Coraline, Monster House, Corpse Bride and Paranorman prove that. Animated action? Why would I want to watch animated Will Smith blow up a space shipw hen I can watch the real deal blow up a real looking space ship. War Dramas? Half the point of a war drama is to show the visceral nature of war. A person is less likely to be disturbed by an animated character blowing up than a real person looking like they blew up.

Only reason toy story was such a big hit is because 3D was new and kids loved it because it was just like in their video games, Anon
The movie in itself is the same as any other disney from back then, with the same jokes and style and whatever

So, the only way another 'pixar' pops off and becomes big without becoming friend with the mouse or dreamworks, it's by using VR and make an 'interactive movie' before they do it
And that certainly won't happen, so... I'll stick with what I said, people want the same things as always and if you don't give them that you have no future
>>
>>94360068

>1995
>3d games

Toy Story was released 2 months after the PS1 came out in America. Most video games kids knew were 2d, not 3d. You're probably underage too.
>>
>>94359873
In short? I'd say mature stories are deeper because they're simply not meant for kids. If you want kids to understand something you gotta dumb everything down. And that's all animated movies in the West, they're family movies so they're not mature. They're silly cartoons at best. I don't blame people for liking them but I have absolutely zero reason to watch some shit like Frozen. I've never seen it but I can guarantee the entire movie is just boring and filled with the same boring song/dance numbers Disney always does.
>>
>>94360068
Most Disney movies of that era were modern musical retelling of classic tales. Aladdin, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast etc. Toy Story was an original buddy film about toys. It cwrtainly wasnt like every othwr Disney movie of that era. Bravest Toaster maybe.

Essentially this. I've only recently discovered that France likes to frequently release on the down low (to us 'Muricans, at least) genuinely artistic small films with good morals. The last one I watched was pic related.

Isn't it strange, that all the objectively artistic and consistently good material when it comes to vidya, comics, and now movies, is coming from small studios these days? I wonder why that could be.

Oh you poor deluded child.

I'm honestly fairly sure she will get a love interest. Romance sells, and it's a natural continuity of her arc, her getting over the great tragedy of her life (solitude and isolation due to the fear) and learning to finally trust herself and someone else enough to open herself up for love and intimacy.

I mean the biggest ship of the fandom when it was active was Jelsa, a goddamn crossover crackship - people were so desperate to pair her with a man they resorted to digging one up from a different franchise and wrote 10k+ signature petitions to Disney and Dreamworks to make it happen.

The only thing I can possibly think is delaying it is some kind of trouble with the writing. Maybe Disney's trying to move past the whole "Shitty straight to DVD sequel" thing
>>
>>94363761
They're nervous about recreating the magic and couldn't come up with a good enough plot that felt right for a long time, I guess
>>
>>94363803
One of the directors has been busy working on other projects, particularly A Wrinkle in Time.

>A Wrinkle in Time
I thought another studio was making that?
>>
To be honest, Coco doesnt really capture my interest. From what I know is that its a boy who plays the guitar and can see ghost. It deals with mexican day of the dead. Pardon the pun, but thats been done to death.

I don't get why they keep pushing back Gigantic. Can't find a voice actor who can sing? Its supposed to be a musical.

Are they worried about not being able to kill off 5 villians in a non violent way? We can have punished jack by the end of the film
>>
>>94359992
All those are still kids' movies. Monster House especially pussied out on killing characters.

Show some gore, disturbing images, madness: adult stuff.

>A person is less likely to be disturbed by an animated character blowing up than a real person looking like they blew up.

Barefoot Gen, anyone?

There are enough tits, but too many cocks
>>
>>94364028
Nope, Disney. They previewed the trailer at D23 a month ago.
>>
>>94365405
I think Disney basically ordered a fairytale film & the writers are stuck in shit. They don't know what to say or where to go. They could start by making Jack a dumb kid who sold his family's cow for some beans.
>>
>>94365929
How to make gigantic memorable

>>Have Jack be a young lad. 10-12 years of age
>>Make Jack shy and meek but willing to go the extra mile for the ones' he loves
>>Gets scammed into buying "Magic" beans, his furious mother demands he throws them out
>>Crying, he does so when it rains, "Promising that he'll make his mom proud
>>Wake up one morning, he looks outside
>>A giant beansprout shoots to the sky
>>Everyone tries to climb it, but are too scared
>>Jack decides to have courage, climbs up
>>Although nervous, he keeps going, saying not to look down. Cue disney montage of him climbing despite the terrible weather
>>Finally gets to the top. Is scared out of his mind because he thinks he'll fall if he steps on the clouds
>>Loud music plays, here's giant footsteps
>>Cue the first shot of a 13-15-year old Inma
>>Inma finds jack, captures him, and playfully teases him
>>Becomes his protective giant, older sister who fiercely beats up any girls who try to take him. Grows to love him. Cue the "I love my little man" song
>>Word gets around that Inma has a human
>>Cue the storm giants who wreck things in town, trying to capture, sell, and eat humans.
>>With Jack's Perserverance and Inma's feisty personality; shenanigans ensue.
I'll continue if anyone wants it

and now it's Disney who's doing amazing buddy movies.
>>
>>94361046

There's still the MLP movie

the last hope for 2D theatrical animation in North America

>>WB still plan to think people will care for Ninjago
I'm honestly looking forward to this. The Lego Movie and The Lego Batman Movie have been some of my favorite movies released the past few years.
>>
>>94367946

it's like Rugrats the movie.

Goddamn Disney, purposedly killing 2D with Winnie the Pooh.

Isn't Miyazaki coming out of retirement again?

You guys know these are made by the same people right?

It's even got Benjamin Renner's name on both posters.
>>
>>94368207

ys we know, based guy, using flash to create movies that look like children books.

if that shit made like a half billion worldwide , Disney would jump on the bandwagon immediately.

Google Animation Age Ghetto.
>>
>>94367946
You mean 2D character art in 3D rendered backgrounds
>>
all they have to do to make good animated adult movies is make the dresden files, mercy thompson, and larry correia's books
>>
>>94368738
Is another major theatrical movie coming out in NA that even has that much?
>>
>>94368053
That was unintentional. Winnie the Pooh was a fun movie, but suffered from being released too close to the DisneyToon Winnie the Pooh movies. Same thing's happening with the latest Spider-Man.
>>
>>94369088
No. It suffered because it was released the same weekend as the final fucking Harry Potter movie
>>
>>94369119
I'd argue the target audiences were distinct enough, though blockbusters like Harry Potter definitely overshadowed more minor movies. Plus, there was not much marketing for it.
>>
>>94356826
renard is cute
>>
>>94369238
Harry Potter, no matter how dark it gets, is by and large a family series.

That was the movie kids and parents were going to go see that weekend, and the marketing didn't help either.

It looks neat. However, they exposed to much of the movie already. That it somewhat defeats the purpose of watching it in the first place

Yet insider rumors suggest that the Three Caballeros ride in the Mexico pavilion at Epcot is due for a Coco overlay. If they had no faith in it, they wouldn't be planning to replace Donald Duck.

I have more respect for Dreamworks now that it was revealed they are not affairs to try new things even if some of them really suck.
Meanwhile the other company copy and paste their plots.

Wish DW didn't axe Larrykins.Sounded fun.

It's weird how all the cancellations mean there's just nothing coming out from them in 2018.
I don't think they've taken a break like that in a while.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
