This brings up further questions. Are the Yeerks just really good at ignoring people, do they have some kind of evolved resistance to being pestered 24/7? Or do the human hosts usually tend to give up and go semi-comatose or insane pretty quickly? I forget whether the books covered this.

As I recall, there was a pretty sizeable anti-empire faction of Yeerks that wanted to live in peace with their hosts. Maybe there was also a pretty big percentage that just couldn't handle their humans, or went native, and their hosts had to be disposed of so they could swap to a new one or they had to be hunted down for desertion, respectively.

They don't at all. Throughout the series it was shown that a considerable amount of Yeerks were turning native or becoming symbotic with their hosts against the current regime. Mainly because trying to infest highly intelligent sapient creatures is trying for them.

In the beginning of their invasion, they thought they struck the goldmine on a perfectly infestable host species that bred quickly and couldn't resist their control. As it went on and on, they realized humans are so incredibly difficult to handle and control that they were unable to pull off their usual tactics.

I remember one novel where Jake falls into a Yeerk pool during a raid and a Yeerk crawls into his ear. He's taken control of, but captured by the others so they can starve the Yeerk out. During that time the two engage in some serious psychological warfare against one another...and the Yeerk has /no/ advantage against him, and steadily loses his ground as he starves and suffers under Jake's repeated mental assaults and abuses.

Well the Andalites made a gun that just vaporizes you, boiling your cells faster than you can even receive the message from your nerves that they're on fire, they designed it that way so you could kill someone relatively humanely if you had to do it. Also, Cassie is BY FAR the most unneeded tack on character. Everything about her was brought out of sheer convenience. The group is turning into a bit of a sausage fest? Add on a Girl! The animorphs don't have easy access to morphs? Make the new girl's parents vets, or in charge of a zoo o something.
