You guys keep talking about how Elliot seemed to be developing a crush on Brun up to this point.

Did everyone seriously forget that Elliot was in love with Padma when he was first introduced? He had known her for years but was too shy to say anything, and then was devastated when she got with Marten. This was back when Jeph actually wrote real story arcs with characters who acted like human beings instead of his current rubbish.

I used to love this comic, and I applauded its integration of LGBT characters in a way that wasn't designed to be titillating or scandalous. But now the comic sacrifices drama, character development, and plot to concentrate on that particular flavor of social commentary. What happened to the philosophical monologues about the ethics of artificial intelligence? Faye's struggle with alcoholism? Dora's insecurities and rocky relationship with her brother? Now it's just "turns out everyone is ployamorous, bisexual, and/or genderfluid, and everyone is great and nobody feels weird about anything and is so accepting that there's no room for anyone to grow, except for white people of course because they are priveleged and bad and can only be fixed by turning gay and having only black friends".

In retrospect, the only character who ever had any real depth and believable, relatable feelings and flaws was Dora. And she's not even in the damn thing anymore.

Jeph seems to have forgotten that one-dimensional ancilliary character archetypes are only useful for expanding the stories and personalities of your main characters. He's abandoned more storytelling potential than most comics ever manage to have in the first place.
