He is meant to be a giant arrogant douche who i selfish, but not particularly evil. He doesn't go on murdering sprees and stuff like that. That is, until Slott decided to have him try and murder the whole world.

Does no one rememerb that Ock wasn't always a dickhead, and was a really intelligent cool guy who was made fun of a bit? He only went crazy when a nuclear blast went off irradiated his brain, and melded metal claws to his spine. Spidey brought him to a hospital in his first appearance in an attempt to try to save him but he went mad and escaped.

Still one of the greatest comic book movie villains ever, if not THE greatest. Molina did an amazing job at making Octavius a villiain you can actually relate to, which is exteremely difficult.
I never understood why Marvel didn't use his movie tentacle design by the way, those looked both practical and cool unlike any other iteration I saw in the comics.
