Are there any actually GOOD written minority characters? I like

New Super-Man is great but then again Kenan Kong isn't exactly a minority in China.

I like Zam from Habibi.

Ms. Marvel is pretty good. Of all of Marvel's new diversity characters, she's the only one where it felt like the character came first, and the ethnicity second.

The problem with most minority/diversity characters is that often times they're not given the chance to tell interesting stories that take the characters further than "Hey look, I'm a black/Muslim/Latina/female character and I can do everything straight white men can do"

Luke Cage has been around long enough that he's gotten to overcome that, but characters like Kamala are still in their awkward growing phase. The only solution is time.

Nighthawk gets bonus points because not only is he an interesting, flawed character, but his ethnicity is an integral part of who he is.

It's one of the few series were he's written as a normal Latin American kid, rather than a stereotypical "ey esse, c'mon manga cut me some slaack"

What other characters do you think haven't gotten their due yet? I actually like Jane Foster Thor, and while Miles seemed to start out as ethnicity-first I think he's gotten a lot better in recent years.

Not him, but Moon Girl gets a lot of shit I don't think she really deserves. Her book is fun and cute and good enough for kids.

The only good minority characters are the ones hanging from trees.

A good chunk of the Milestone characters are pretty great. I'm going through Blood Syndicate now and I like how they're just an actual gang with powers who protect their turf. Another thing I like is how the Milestone characters appear in each other's books from time to time, it fleshes out Dakota as a location.
