Retards complained about minimal changes on Zack Snyder's kino and now they are getting a completely different thing. Admit it. The movie as it was, with a budget over 200m was a miracle itself. It was only made thanks to the huge leverage Snyder had. There was no way the movie would have been greenlighted ever.
Its obvious a work like Watchmen would be modified completely to fit a modern audience. Without Zack Snyder the film would have been completely different.
And no, the movie not existing wasnt an option. If it wasnt Zack Snyder, any other guy would have made a way shittier work adapting it because its a famous IP and there was going to be a film eventually you like it or not. We got the best film possible out of the Watchmen book.

I agree with Moore the best attempt at an adaptation would be the Terry Gilliam one, a lot of people praise how well adapted Snyder version is, thought it seems the only thing he liked about it according to the intervews was that an "adult comic" not the nerd shit his friends used to read, so the movie unnecessarily turns the violence and sex up to eleven hilariously to "fit a modern audience" like OP says, while the original comic just had enough of it without becoming borderline torture porn.

Did you even read the OP? He says that it was a miracle such a faithful big budget adaptation was made, not that it was made at all. Other directors like Terry Gilliam would have done something very different and would have been hated even more no matter how good it was (it probably would have been shit though). And if it was made today, they would change it so it would have a wider appeal.

But what i'm saying is watchmen is an hbo adaptation and he's got a good track record in that field specifically plus the leftovers is more recent than those things so he's doing good now have some faith mate I know this is /co/ and all but its possible to be good.

I think it's a terrible idea in general to make anything out of the watchmen because regardless of what you do you can replace what the watchmen is to comics as a medium.
Not going for the straight adaptation makes some sense to me, at least at first. What they should do is have two seasons the first season being a short prequel series about the golden age watchmen and a look at the world between the 40's to the 80's and the second season should be the actual book. I don't trust lindeloff at all but I'm more comfortable being able to write this off before anything comes out than to have some false hope about what's going to be a mediocer retelling of a great story
