Seriously. I've always conceptualized it as A dad playing dnd with his son finn. Dad is the dungeon master, and has Jake in there as a dmpc with powers that are suitably powerful and suitably convenient if finn's character gets in over his head in an encounter. Lady Rainicorn is his Korean gf who he's dating, and bmo is her Americanized little son who finn and his dad bond with over video games. Ice king is their neighbor or grandfather with alzheimers. Princess bubblegum is finn's bio mom but, like with all the things in the game, she takes the role of someone roughly finn's age.

I always liked thinking the events in the story were Jake's way of helping finn cope with real life stuff. Like the whole ice king deal in game was when they out-of-game learned about what the man with alzheimers used to be like. Flame princess was an actual girl finn liked, but his bio mom didn't approve of.

The theory doesn't hold up under *that* much scrutiny or attention to detail, and I don't think it's what the creators intended, but I like creating the parallel narrative in my head as a form of allegory. It makes it more fun, imo.

Equating Jackie with Mildrew as the "suitor no.2" would mean that there's a strong parallel between Marco and Moon, but that's not the case. Their situations aren't comparable at all.

It also doesn't fit because Mildrew actively pursued Moon but she wasn't into him, whereas Marco's been actively pursuing Jackie, not the other way around - and they've officially gotten together. Moon stayed married to her first choice. You think Marco will do the same?

It doesn't make any sense for the show to try to drive home to the viewer how similar Moon and Marco are, because they aren't. Hell, even in your pic the competing love interest looks nothing like Jackie.

In cartoon shows, parents are often given at least some physical traits they share with their offspring, such as similar hair, nose, and so on.
So instead of being "overthinking", it's actually the simplest and thus most likely explanation that Mildrew has a more direct connection with Jackie.

AT is kind of aimless with its lore, but the lore wouldn't be important as a grounding mechanism if there was an emotional backstory like that which wouldn't overpower the fun and questing nature of the show in the first few seasons.

While this would fit with the Kankers kind of trashy lifestyle, it doesn't actually work. The sisters are all seem to be the same age since they're going to school together. I guess you could argue the mother had them all one after another, and the oldest was held back a year or something, but it's reaching.

If it weren't for the school episodes, I'd believe it, especially considering how different they all look.

Well that's wierd, it's the relationship in the book series with the most stuff going for it. Besides, Ron's the most human of the cast; sceptical of others intentions, but not blind to their decent qualities, doesn't tolerate bullshit from even his best friends, actually gains and mends his interal flaws as shit happens etc

Not sure you could call it wish fulfillment when Harry gets together with someone who acts like obsessed bootlicker for all but the last 2 and a half books.
