Is this a good Thor series to start with?
I've never read a Thor series before.
Overrated run that only gets praise because most Thor runs are shit. It's mediocre. The 2007 post-Civil War run and Whor is where it's at.

Start with Simonson's run.

This.

Nope. It's mediocre with great art.

Is the post secret war Whor actually good?

>Whor is where it's at
Thor:GoT was a fun read and Ribic was born to draw Thor comics but it does nothing for the lore.
Simonson and Straczynski are the quintessential runs. Aaron is entertaining.
issue 1 thru 12 are really good, the rest is crap...

Yeah post SW Whor is decent. Don't listen to the shitposters who clearly haven't read it.
If you want a great starting point, but with modern art and story, read JMS's run. I started with it, abdolutely loved it, backpedalled to Simonson's run, then read the newer stuff.

^This. Especially if you read the first Marvel Civil War already. Thor Vol 3 #3 is especially enjoyable if you did.
TGoT is alright but if you already don't like Whor then you will hate her even more after reading this run.

It's a fun jumping on point. First comic I bought my girlfriend and now she's deep into comics.
The Simonson run is better, but it isn't as accessible for people who haven't read comics before.

Simonson, there really is no other choice.
And its fucking fantastic...
the start of Aarons Thor run is decent, esp with Ribic on art for the first bit, but then it goes into Jane Thor territory after that initial God of Thunder run.
Time will tell i guess if 'Whor' was an awful desicion or just an overall plot point, Aarons got a ton of issues under his belt already and I don't think Marvel is making him stop so it might end up just being a blip on the radar

>Whor actually good?
No

Why is it bad?
The Lee-Kirby run is incredibly underrated for a Lee-Kirby run imo.

It's not to many people's taste. If you like being politically preached at, you may enjoy it.
