He was a lazy ass, yeah, but being an illiterate Slav in a big city couldn't have been easy. Given his education I can't imagine he ever got a job that wasn't begging on the street, and without money he was undoubtedly homeless (or at least living in a slum). He really lucked out with Suzie, and while I don't approve of his leeching of her I at least understand it, since it's easy to get comfortable with your life when previously you had literally nothing.

Dodie never once had a "You keep da money" moment. At least Oscar's episodes were usually specifically about him being an asshole, getting called out on it, and then being redeemed in some way, even if it was just a small step in the right direction. But Dodie was just a bitch usually off to the side of whatever was supposed to be the main focus, never really got called out in a meaningful way, and never did shit to make up for what she'd done even a little.
