>Cartoons&Comics board
>Very few people here actually read comics

Why?
>>
>>94163805
comics are shit
>>
It's just like how very few people on /v/ actually play video games.
>>
>>94163805
Because they're too busy watching cartoons.
>>
>>94163805
Marvel and DC comics are unnecessarily stupid
>>
>"Lol why would anyone read MARLEL? SJW scum!"
>Proceeds to pretend to know everything about the Marvel canon so he can argue with actual readers
>Ignores everything DC related because their movies aren't as popular

That's this board in a nutshell. It's just movie casuals who want to shitpost their political agendas.
>>
>>94163805
>>94163827
It's more that comics and cartoons have COMPLETELY separate audiences, unlike anime and manga. And comics are literally THE lowest selling form of entertainment that there is. So the cartoon audience here is several times larger than the comics audience.
>>
I'm into indie comics and no one discusses them
>>
>>94163805
Because I watch cartoons.
>>
>>94163868
This. Just wait for the capeshit fad to die and /tv/ and /pol/ will fuck off somewhere else. I don't know how lively this board will be by then.
>>
>>94163805
Because this is now the Television & Film board.
>>
>>94163909
What indie comics you into, my man? I'm reading so few ongoings, mostly just going through a back catalog.
>>
>>94163868
!00% of my DC knowledge comes from cartoons, video games, and movies. I try to refrain from company wars as much as possible though. /co/ is heading to where /v/ is on that front and that is not a place you want to be.
>>
>>94163963
Live action needs to be banned now.
>>
>>94163805
>Very few
You mean no one. Not even you.

Because comics are shit. they have always been pretty shitty with fairly good moments between the shit.
This is due to the series constantly changing writers so there is rarely a consistent story or background. anything and everything given enough time will be retconned, erased, deleted, undermined or sold to the devil. What exactly is the point of getting heavily invested in a medium where you know that ultimately no matter what happens, SOMEHOW the current or next writer will find a way to return to the previous status quo.

Most of us used to read comics regularly until we figured this fact out. Now we just hang around /co/ to find new things to like and in the vain hope that maybe we'll hear about one of those pretty good moments and be able to enjoy it before the shit starts again.
>>
>>94163805
people post interesting scans here and the best bits of comics. Stoytimes are good too, because most of the time they post storytimes of things I might never read otherwise. I also like the discussion on characters. I still read comics but I'm not up to date on the current shit and I have a smaller library than most of you.
>>
Movies.

Really stupid ass people who watch movies and cartoons and think that's close enough to reading comics. Some are even so delusional they actually convince themselves that they HAVE read comics because they watched the cartoons.

Also if they do read comics they haven't read anything from before 2012 and think legacy characters and writers being liberal is some new thing that just started.

You know how SJWs suddenly decided comics would be their next target for endless complaining? Same with /v/. These idiots just LOVE the feeling that they're these tragically oppressed victims of the evil SJWs, it's just a constant circlejerk about how much they hate SJWs instead of ever discussing things they actually like. But I suppose liking something would require actually reading it.

>/v/ barely plays videogames
>/fit/ barely lifts
>/co/ barely read comics or watches cartoons
>/mlp/ mostly doesnt even watch the show.

How come all of this?
>>
>>94164008
And here's another fucking idiot who has barely read anything and thinks anyone should care about his stupid, misinformed opinion.
>>
>>94164052
Prove me wrong then motherfucker.
I used to read comics a lot. Some of the comics I read were Spider-man, Batman, Green Lantern, X-Men and Thor
I gave up on it because its too expensive and inevitably one of the writers does something ridiculously stupid with the characters or retcons something very interesting that happened just for either shock sales or so he/she can have more creative freedom with the character.

Shit gets tiresome reading a story that goes in circles and rarely gets anywhere far before being redirected back
>>
>>94164017
>/a/ actually has a user base that partakes in their hobbies
>/co/ doesn't because of fucking live action

How do we get the ball rolling to get live action banned?
>>
>>94163873
Truth. It kind of feels like /co/ only exists as a "counterpart" to /a/. They should probably be separate boards.
>>
comics are great

would love to talk them with people

oh well
>>
>>94164033
Because the show went to shit. I havent finished season 7 and dont plan on it anytime soon.

Any board on 4chan is the worst place to discuss the topic of said board.
>>
>>94163805
Says you.
We have a dozen storytimes a day. Even a recentpurchase/collection thread.
Hell a nonstop winothread dedicated to getting comics.

>>94164008
You ever tried to read something that's NOT capeshit or at least tried to follow creators instead of characters?
Cause sure as hell it doesn't look like it.

>>94164240
I dunno I could discuss bicycles at /n/.
But then they went full autistic screeching when it came to kickstands
>>
>>94164137
Theres more than decades of cape.
Theres tons of other comics written as stand alone stories or long running series that have always been in the hand of a single maker.

Usagi Yojimbo, The Walking Dead, Mouse Guard, Atomic Robo, etc.
>>
I actually read comics more than most other media. Just not really big 2 stuff.
Cartoons, I'll admit I have largely stopped paying attention to, but if there is a new animated movie that looks good, I'll always take notice.
>>
>>94164137
>characterfags
How about reading some of the thousands of comics with singer writers?
>>
>>94163805
because the mayority of casual comic fans are more interested in comic adaptations than comics and that's what they talk about

on top of that, in the USA the mayority of actual comic fans are cape readers who are interested in two companies and only specific characters from these companies

the end result is that you really feel that /co/ always talks about the same comics.

But if you know where to go, you can talk about almost every scene out there, even comics from other languages.
>>
>>94164197
Because it is. Only reason /co/ was ever made was because some people from /a/ begged for comics and cartoons board from moot and i guess he got sick of it and made the board
>>
>>94164137

Sounds like you're angry at superhero comics.
What non-superhero comics do you read that are shit? And, whereabouts did you stop reading?

You're exaggerating. The board has problems, but there's plenty of comic stuff.

>>94163990
It really does. Modern superhero movies basically Dark Portal'd our asses and let /tv/ right in.
>>
>>94164412
>>94164335
and here come the autists to nitpick about 'comics dont just mean capeshit'. We both know when someone says 'comics' on /co/ mostly they mean DC/Marvel
Comics outside of dc/marvel are pretty cool. Still pretty expensive but usually worth it if you find a series that fits for you. Walking Dead is cool and so was Hellboy. Proposition Player was really neat but a bit short for my taste there are others but you're just looking for a cheap shot to undermine a general point

>>94164314
>>94164354
Now this is a thing I probably should do. when I have more money for such things. Thank you both for the suggestion. Kids get into comics to follow characters but they cant stay in comics that way I guess. Been focusing more on books lately and /lit/ is a bit pretentious in their recommended lists for my tastes.

>>94164412
Everyone is. if you read dc/marvel comics long enough you'll get jaded by the dumb bullshit that inevitably drags the stories down
>>
>>94163805
Small rural Newfoundland town with no comic stores
>>
>Why not read comics?

>Muh MCU. Muh Disney capes.
>>
>>94164144
nothing you can do.
The mods fucking love live action.

I can say mother, but if I call someone a MCU hag, automatic ban.

>/v/ is just endless bitching

>/tv/ is just /pol/ and /b/

Are the other boards any better?
>>
>>94163971
Reading Dino Stamatopolous' new project, Trent. It's a musical comic that has his trademark dark humor.
You can buy it on the Starburns Industries website

Also just picked up Wilson by Daniel Clowes, that was a fun read
>>
>>94165068
/int/ is half random shitposting and arguing over who is and isn't white, half generals. /his/ is tankies and stormfags fighting. Not sure about the rest.
>>
>>94165068
/cgl/ is screeching about coord rules and making fun of cosplayers

you already covered all my other boards
>>
>>94165068

The porn boards, even the worst ones are just because of slow traffic but then you move on to the next porn board.
>>
>>94165204
I dont know whats up on /gif/ but threads always seem to be derailing in a dumb discussion about race/cuckshit/dick size/shemales and traps being gay/etc

Whats up with that? I thought porn was the thing that made all 4chan come together..

>It's more that comics and cartoons have COMPLETELY separate audiences
That's completely untrue and dangerously ignorant.

Just as there are people with interest that wane towards solely comics or solely cartoons there is gigantic crossover between the two through the ages, and some of the best times comes from people mixing those interests. There's tons of comics out there and /co/ talks about quite a few, even outside the "capeshit" and "somehow unrelated" live-action that people love to complain about overrunning the board, and these comics can often be seen as inspiration for the cartoons we've seen and will continue to see.

If "very few people here actually read comics", it's more likely because the board keeps falling prey to easy shitposting and crossboarders pushing /v/ tier mentalities like "boards are the worst at discussing their own thing", as if that's supposed to be the norm, and people not needing to know anything about what they're shitposting about to easily bait people. That and lack of ease of access where the people who just come here passing by can easily google a cartoon to watch but can't as easily find comics to download or read online, like manga.
>>
I'm too stupid to torrent and can't afford them.

Cartoons are 1000x better than comics.
>>
Pairing Cartoons and Comics is like pairing Movies with Model Train Sets.
>>
>>94165275

Even that isn't that bad because a porn thread with a disproportionate reply count to image count ratio will tell you right away something is fishy there, and you will still have lots of tits and ass to distract you from the agendas and the saucefags.

Casual can't get into comics because "learning the lore is hard" and the only kind of comic that "exist" are Marvel and DC.

I read comics just not capeshit. I also read comics very infrequently because I'm not made of money.
>>
>>94163805
Cartoons are free and easy to watch while multi-tasking, comics are fucking expensive and even if you torrent them require like 80% of your attention to fully absorb.
>>
>>94164335
>Tired of things just going in circles and shock for the sake of shock?
>Read The Walking Dead!

Nigga you can't be fucking serious right now. I still read TWD and even I can tell you that the series has either been "oh no this place is ruined better find other one" or "oh no we tried to be peaceful with this group but it didn't work welp time for war"
>>
Cartoon fags are autists that are more vocal about their fetishes
