Not him, nor am I particularly disappointed in how Thanos looks in film, but I think the most striking difference is his eyes. He doesn't have very humanlike eyes. Usually they're glowing red, either entirely or as two red dots in otherwise dark pits. At least, that's my experience with the character. It was used to great effect to have him express himself in unique ways through how they'd glimmer.

I can understand why they'd prefer human-like eyes for film, but it'd be cool if they did some eye-related special effects during the film in reference to his classic look.

it might not have looked good in live action, what with all the possible angles they'd be shining lights on the actors to keep them well lit, they'd have to deliberately plan out every scene around Thanos's eyes and that could have hampered the movies in other areas. It's sad to say, but not every good comic book design translates to 3D very well.

It's the eyes. Thanos is supposed to have black voids with maybe a pin point of light.

Honestly, that excuse works most of the time but in the case of these movies nah. They have easy enough budget and time to pull shit like this off. Problem is the MCU is patterned on a pretty dull visual style.
