I literally threw up during the rubble scene because Uncle Tony was his motivation. Holy fuck did anyone else get triggered?
>>
When are we going to stop pretending we care about uncle ben?

Even then, i care about aunt may but this movie made her a fully capable milf. Peters got nothing to worry about. This movie lowers the weight of responsibilty so much its disgusting.

Yeah this movie sucked honestly

Superhero movies are the bottom of the barrel of cinema, they are incapable of being good, and the audiences praise lack of quality, as we have seen happen over and over for decades, but it's a fact that the movie was made by Sony.

Well fun fact: High school kids aren't 12 and they don't think that saying "penis" is a joke on its own. And they certainly don't have their parties revolve around people whose only notable qualities are that they don't go to parties very often
>>
The film wasn't bad, but shit they completely fucked over the character. I understand they had to change things so it doesn't get repetitive because of the old movies but they completely removed the key points of the character.

Peter Parker is supposed to be torn between his 2 lives with no one to help him.
Making his aunt fully capable and giving him a sidekick and a complete Stark tech gear misses the entire point of the character.

That's true. But you should give teens a bit more credit. Kids are getting smarter and more mature earlier each generation
>>

I won't.
Children are little more than whiny pets, and every single teenager could use a couple more slaps in their face.
No one under the age of 20 is a worthwhile person, and none of what these people say should ever be taken into account by anyone.

They didn't need to beat me because they educated me properly, but it's obvious a lot of modern parents can't, and don't have the balls to call out their stupid kids, so they are bringing an entire generation of retards to our planet because people have become a bunch of oversensitive pussies.

That scene was one of the best in the movie. Ultimately, his 'motivation' was Spider-Man. That's why he's fucking telling himself "come on Spider-Man etc." Before this point, he doesn't think he's good enough as Spider-Man alone, that he can't get out of the rubble without his fancy suit or Iron Man's help.

People are buttmad he was acting like an actual teenager, but I liked the movie's overlapping theme of Spider-boy wanting to become Spider-man, instead of pretending to be a man.

Yes how dare a Spider-Man movie be something other then Peter crying about how much life sucks and he hates himself. Because it's not like the ASM movies weren't just that for five fucking hours.

There is a reason hitting your kids is outlawed in civilized countries.

People who hit their kids have higher likelihood of producing people who'll grow up using physical force to intimidate others or get their way. same way people who fiddle their kids have a higher risk of producing kids who grow up to become fiddlers themselves.

A parent who's reduced to hitting a child out of frustration or anger instead of using their brains and words is a failure as a human being.

Honestly, a dose of that kind of people wouldn't be all that bad, seeing how manchildren are a gigantic part of modern society, people who need "safe spaces" because words send them into depression.

>A parent who's reduced to hitting a child out of frustration or anger instead of using their brains
It's not anger.
You behave like a retard, you get treated like a retard.
Screaming mindlessly is pointless, just slap him in the face and that's it.

>>94122530
In the 40's and 50's child psychology wasn't a thing and there was little research done on the effect of this form of child upbringing.

Guess what, we're in 2017 and every single study shows it doesn't do anything good in the long run and has a risk of backfiring and causing problems for the kid later in life.

The most accurate meaning behind it:

uh..no? Tony was not the 'primary motivator' for Peter. Its just that Tony represented an extremely high end career opportunity.
Uncle Ben was sprinkled throughout the movie is you werent too autistic and busy forcing yourself to throw up to see it.

The whole movie is about Spiderman fucking up and Tony Stark saving the day. If Spiderman hadn't been in the movie, the plot would have been resolved in like 5 minutes.
>>

That happens once anon. Spider-Man fucks up badly once and Tony Stark has to save him.

Tony didn't know Vulture was going to attack his invisible jet and steal a bunch of arc reactors, Spider-Man stopped him and saved the day with no involvement from Tony. He wasn't even using the suit Tony gave him.

The movie was fine until the fight at the ATM and maaaybe the fight during the party. Then Spiderman decides to take it on his own and fucks everything up.

Tony Stark sets a bunch of FBI agents to investigate the Vulture, he'd have easily figured out about the hijacking and perhaps catch him earlier.

What ended up happening was that Spiderman did a bunch of dumb things (taking the glowy rock, bringing it to Washington, hacking the suit, getting on the ferry alone, deciding to challenge the Vulture on his own at the end), and the whole plot was Spiderman fixing up the mistake he just created every time.

And whenever Iron Man shows up he's a literal Deus Ex Machina. Putting just the minimal effort he'd have solved the movie in a few minutes with no casualties.

Yeah, the stakes were really low for this movie. The world doesn't need to be saved, I enjoyed that it was a small-scale story about the neighborhood (for the most part.) But the personal stakes were laughable for Peter. Even by highschool standards. Personal stakes are good in a movie, and should be a bit bigger for Spider-Man. The movie has the potential to spawn really good sequels, but I don't really like Homecoming.
>>
>>94122522
Nope.

I used to binge watch the ID network on TV that showed nothing but stories about real murders. Half to 2/3rds of killers actually came from a nice family and we're boring looking mild mannered people.

The truth is, it is a mental disorder you can be born with.

Here's a example with a quote that stuck with me:

"I couldn't stand it. I tried to not do anything for weeks but. I killed the kid so I could masturbate because I couldn't stand it anymore." 17 year old kid who could not climax without seeing a dead body.

see in this version. Peter was worried about saving others even in the face of his own demise. In Homecoming he was whining like a bítch. "critics" will love this scene; saying "It makes you realise he's just a kid!" But if you look at both of these it just makes Homecoming Peter come off as selfish.
>>
>>94121360
His motivation wasn't Tony. He ended up kinda of agreeing with vulture speech, but Vulture was still wrong. why didn't he accept to be in the Avengers? Because being Tony (and a high school drop-out) wasn't his goal anymore.

The motivation was proving he was capable of doing things himself.
>>
>>94121661
as a fan I really liked this spiderman and it's the closer to comicbook to date, at least in Peter character.
Raimi one not only was too autistic, but kinda lacked the mistakes or growth of HS spidey
Garfield was a totally different character all along, a chad trying to be a nerd, not even close
Holland is spot on.
My only real problems are notganke and liz being the daughter of the fucking vulture, evne if it was a cool twist
>>
>>94121360

It wasn't Tony, it was the fact that he wanted to prove that he was more than the suit. You know, since he didn't have the suit, it was the point in the movie when things were the toughest.

aka

>Anyone can win a fight -- when the odds are easy!
>It's when the going's tough - when there seems to be no chance - that's when it counts!

Yes, and that lesson came from Tony Stark. His voiceover was even played to make it obvious.

Thats like saying nah, spiderman didnt protect people because of uncle ben. He was just trying to live life with great power comes great responsibility. It had nothin to do with uncle ben bro.
>>
His motivation the entire film was literally "I want a job."

Dude was stuck in rubble thinking he would die of course he would be freaking the fuck out. >>
>>94121428
You say it lowers the weight of responsibility but I would say it raises it since his main arc is going from a selfish super hero to a selfless one
He went from worshiping stark and wanting to be a part of super hero celebrity to someone who wants to be a heroic person for himself.

It's, admittedly, a lot different from the core Spider-Man stories where Peter has no motivation to use his powers heroically before Uncle Ben. But I think it makes sense given that this movie is set in a larger context where selfless heroes have been a staple of life since the main character was 6-7

So yeah it's not a matter of good vs evil for Peter but there's still a weight of responsibility. It's just responsibility to oneself vs a larger moral scale
>>
>>94121988
The point of giving him the tech was to have him reach a high point in his super-hero delusions.
When it's taken away, Peter literally stops all his heroing because he doesn't see a reason to do it anymore if he's not getting recognition and fulfilling his fantasy
Making the aunt more capable was done to put more focus on how Peter's hero-worship clashes with his irresponsibility. If his aunt was having financial issues, Peter likely wouldn't have the same outlook on his powers and thus the focus of the movie would be split
>>

>People who say this is the most faithful Spider-man in live action just because he is a high school kid (which stopped being the case in the comics since the fucking late 70s) are deluded.

Just looked it up and PP actually graduated in ASM 28, from 1965.

And yet over the past few years I've heard about seven stupid men on comics podcasts talking about how wonderful it is to finally be seeing the "real" Spidey on film. I know for a fact these people have only read a smattering of the Ditko issues.

How the fuck does Disney manage this level of mind control?

>Show an out of character protagonist and a supporting cast that's 95 unrecognizable.
>Watch as manbabies swoon over it all and insist for the rest of their lives that it's so faithful and respectful to the source material.

Remember MCU versions of Ultron and Mandarian. Now think about how many times you heard dweebs complaining about how "off" Apocalypse was in the last X-Men film. Compared to what?
>>
>>94121696
>Spiderman... will make the entire MCU revolve around him

Can't happen as long as he's owned by Sony. Disney could never structure one of their huge cash cows around a character whose film rights they don't own. Spider-man will exist in solo-films and show up for team-ups, but he'll never be the shoves-his-face-into-every-other-character's-movie juggernaut that RDJ is right now.
>>
>>94135207

I think the scene itself was fine, its just the fact that I'm aware of what it's based off of that irks me.

Like, in the movie it was your standard dig-deep-to-go-get-the-bad-guy moment. And, to his credit, Holland really did a good job of ditching his superhero voice and channeling the scared kid who's about to die. It was fine. Peter freaking out is fine--he's freaking out in the original too--it's just he's doing it in speech bubbles and for a different reason.

The reason is what gets me. In Homecoming, Peter had a bunch of good reasons to lift that building. He wanted to catch Vulture. He wanted to prove himself to Iron Man. He wanted to save himself, obviously. But in the original version he needed to lift the building to *save* people. That's what bugs me about the scene. It's one of Spider-man's big, iconic selfless moments and they changed the message from "save people" to "prove yourself". It felt like whoever adapted the scene missed the point of the original and was just using it as window-dressing.

Maybe I'm being too critical. I don't know.
>>
>>94121708
I don't know who you interacted with but that was pretty typical of in-memes in high school
>>94136943
I think it's perfectly fine to criticize the character of Peter here
I mean I kinda figured from the beginning that he had this ambient desire to help people but that a lot of this movie's arc was going from him looking for recognition to him being a hero for its own sake. I don't even think Uncle Ben ever met Peter or existed in this one.

I think the scene and movie were good but I never act like Peter here is a better person than Maguire's Peter who was on the level of Superman in terms of moral integrity.
Here he's a good character but not a good person, or as much of a good person as he's been in other movies or comics

As a last note, this Peter is still a better person than Garfield's Peter in my book
>>
>>94136943
You know I don't think Peter saved anyone in this movie. But at least he had good intentions. He wanted to help people because he had too. I remember getting hyped on the trailer showing the boat scene and Peter going "No No No No." He cares. That's good.
The problem is despite his well intentions it still stands he didn't save anyone. He did more harm than good 3/4 of the time he puts on the suit (I didn't see the Final Fight).
It's like they took the concept of "Woop dee do Park Luck eh?" and pushed it up to 100. He's more like Spawn than Spidey.
No scratch that. It's literally a movie about a teen pretending to be Spider-Man.
>Inb4 You don't NEED to save a person to be a hero lol

I hadn't really thought about it until now but it's not like it's new for Liz to have family in Spider-Man's rogues gallery on account of Molten Man.
>>
>>94138077
First of all. No he isn't.
Secondly, despite that, I think that would've been a good decision to make. I think I would've liked to see Molten Man instead. Like if they wanted to keep the overall save the day plot small scale, they could've had him pushing drugs or getting hired to assasinate Stark and Pete has to save him. The best part would be the Villain and the Hero know each other. They come in contact everyday at school. He's the brother of the girl Peter likes. Peter is still trying to be a detective like the movie. Finding out who's selling the drugs to kids. By the time he and the fat guy realise Mark's gone off the deep end it's too late to warn Tony because Pete's messed up so much. Now he has to prove himself and he DOES end up saving a life. The life of his Hero.
But no. We had to make it related to the MCU somehow. Uhhh just throw in the tesseract or whatever.

I liked the movie. I would have liked it more without the SJW stuff, and.... What if after Toomes was locked up, Spidey researched into the man before he became Vulture, goaded by the "they don't care about us" monologue?
And Spidey found out about Tony running Toomes & his crew off of their contracted job, setting him on the path of becoming a villain since 'the system' failed him?

I think it could have made the ending where Parker turns down the Avengers job and the new suit, and gives Tony a really deep look to let the audience know that he knew what was up. And that he was going to take a stand for the little guy, come hell or high water.
That's just my feeling on it.

>Almost like the brain of a child isn't logical.
You do realise kids don't stay babies don't you? All children learn through a mixture of experience and by watching others. By the time a kid reaches 5 years of age they can tell what's right and wrong; what will hurt them if they do something.

>>
>>94144582
A belt is a weapon. Anything that isn't physically attached to your person is a weapon. Using that can constitute as abuse these days. That doesn't mean it won't work. Personally, I don't condone using anything but a hand, for now. But even if it was acceptable, there are other ways.
That's the one thing that is con with negetive reinforcement. Human children don't learn the way a dog does when it won't bark after it gets shocked with a shock collar if you put it on. Children are constantly looking for approval. From 2-6 it's from their parents. From 7 onward it's from their peers. The trick to stopping a kid from being the degenerates you see today is by letting them know on both fronts their actions aren't acceotable.
E.G. A 5-year-old yells inanities at no one in particular during a social gathering. The parent yells at her or cuffs her on the ear. Everyone sees. The kid starts to cry not because she's hurt but because she's utterly, thoroughly embearassed. The same goes if an 11-year-old does it at school. The other kids tell her to cut the crap (in the rude kid way). That's how they learn.
