Aside from the porn, anyone remember WITCH? Is it worth checking

I looked up the last issue a while ago because I was curious about how it ended, and I was disappointed over them getting a cool superform at the end that they didn't even get to use

The books/comics were interesting enough in their own right, nothing really groundbreaking through. All I really remember is the fire girl being kidnapped for weeks on end and mentally breaking down.

Taranee, the black fire magic girl, sacrifices herself in a different dimension Meridian so that the other 4 can escape. (her mouth is even magic'd away so that she can't warn her friends verbally (she does tell them to go through telepathy) ) She's temporarily replaced by a clone of herself in our world until the other 4 go back and rescue her as she's being held captive by Elyon a girl who used to be the group's friend and naga man called Cedric.

I couldn't find the exact book I had, but if I remember correctly it was in the middle of a story arc where the black girl was kidnapped by the big bads for whatever reason, and was being held ransom. The others had to cover for her by making a clone of her (so that her parents wouldn't worry) while they tried to save her, and when they reached her she didn't believe they were real and lashed out at them.
I think she ended up burning down her bubble/prison she was in.

Eh, I actually think the first season was better than the first arc of the comics, but to be fair both were lacking, hugely due to executive meddling. In the case of the cartoon, the executives kept going back and forth on whether the series should be a slice of life show or a full on adventure show and it's pretty obvious if you watch it with that knowledge. The first comic arc had a great start(issue 1-6) but disagreements between the creators and the executives at Disney(likely about the direction of the comic) led to the original team being kicked out and the comic going through a massive change:
>Cedric goes from a reasonably intelligent villain in 1-6 to a complete and utter buffoon in 7-12.
>Phobos goes from a recluse who only showed himself to a rare few to a big ham who loves to be in public,
>Elyon suddenly becomes outright good and morally upstanding rather than morally grey like before- and Cornelia and her are somehow now best friends without anything of the sort having been hinted at before.
>The rebellion has no leader in 6, which is why Vathek changing sides and deciding to lead them is so poignant in 6- but then in 7 he's back to being a lapdog... to the leader of the rebellion, Caleb, who comes completely out of nowhere).

Everything that came after Rangorlang was pretty bad in general, with a few gems here and there.

Retcons up the ass, completely messing the character dynamics, and destroying past lore set ups.

The very first issue was really good, even know I can enjoy it, the later in the series you go the more hit or miss it gets, I got this ages ago though, like, I got the first issue when it first came out in the states and you got it through the scholastic book order, that was like what 2003~ish? It came with all this bonus super girly stuff too which felt really awkard, I was really self-aware of that kind of thing back then, or at least wasn't very used to it.

Though I'll give them credit where it's due. Having Matt become Shagon was actually a pretty clever twist, as it brought him into the magic shenanigans much earlier, gave more to Will's arc, and made you at least care a little about Nerissa's mooks.

Better than that the retarded retcon they pulled in New Power.

I'd say it had a different kind of charm from the comic, myself.

It's also difficult to say that the comic had the (same) heart after the team that made the first six issues(arguably the best in the entire run) got fired and their work got massively reworked(not in a good way) in the middle of an arc. I can read the first 6 issues anytime and enjoy them, even now, but issue 7-12 make me groan. They got their own thing sorta rolling with the Nerissa plot, and finally properly found their feet with the third arc.

The worst thing about it is I can only waifu one team member properly.

I want to read it, but my standards are too high to enjoy the shit tier scanlation so I'm holding out in the vain hope someone who's not an attentionwhoring weeb cunt will make a proper scanlation.
