What's the best Batman storyline and Spiderman story line to get into for a beginner?

I'm going to read Year One and then some Joker volumes first. I have no idea where to begin with Spiderman

Do you mind reading older stuff? Because Ditko is actually a really good starting point. If you do mind, start with Spider-Man Blue then I guess. Someone will recommend Ultimate, don't listen to them, it's trash.

Start with ASM 1 and go all the way till 500. After that drop the series and never pick it up again.

No. Blue is a sort of untold tales story of Peter having flashbacks of college. The origin story doesn't happen in the main title BTW. Amazing Fantasy 15 is the origin.
