They can't do that because the JL has to always be the top dogs and so they can't age past what they have already.

More new characters will just end up stuck in the same way Nightwing's generation is, that they'll be stuck as adults but never be allowed the room to be as big a deal as the JL.

The only growth you'll ever see like that is in solos like Superman or The Flash with characters like Jon or kid Wally, or in other team books like the JSA or LoSH.

Justice League are the top dogs. None of the Titans minus Wally and Dick can hold a solo in definitely, and only Damian, Tim, and Kon can and have held a solo for a long period of time. Starfire is probably the only one who could hold an ongoing, while most others like Roy and Donna could hold a mini but not much else.

That generation, Tim's generation, Damian's should Emiko and Jon and others be their own, etc are all stuck and get more jammed every time there's a new generation of heroes.

You're pretty much left with a bunch of knock offs of the JL (the Robins, Kid Flashes, Wonder Girls, etc) running around with whatever flavor of Titans editors and writers have decided to push that week. For Dick, it'll probably never stop going back to Starfire, BB, and Raven at the bare minimum. For Tim, it'll probably end up being the Core Four + Aqualad and other YJ show characters.

There is some logic behind the rumor though, even if Rich is pulling it out of his ass. It's not like the Gaiman/Dr Endless thing.

One, DC has NO idea what to do with the Titans franchise. Like straight up it has been garbage to mediocre for most of its existence. Wolfman/Perez and Johns are considered the only good runs.
Two, Suicide Squad proves that DC isn't above shitty synergy.
Three, there's a Titans show coming with Nightwing, Starfire, Raven, and Beast Boy.
Four, New Teen Titans and the 2004 Teen Titans cartoon cast a massive shadow on the entire franchise that DC will literally never escape from. TTG and the Titans show cast prove this and reinforce this.

Either way, there's gonna be Dick, Raven, Gar, and Kory on the same team eventually, whether they launch Young Justice instead of Teen Titans for Tim's gen or if they have the YJ crew under the TT name.

I listened to an interview with Steve Pugh on Deconstructing Comics. He said they may do another Flintstones run and that they didn't stop because of sales numbers it was just the planned ending. However DC and especially Didio wants them to do more. Both Russell and Pugh really want to do more. It may take a while cause Pugh said he's working on an unannounced superhero book now and Russell is on Snagglepuss. But maybe in a year Flintstones will be back
