Not to defend Marvel, but haven't they in recent years let DC have SDCC while they mostly had NYCC? Like a home base thing?

DC tends to do all their announcements prior to SDCC and then just kinda have fan interactions at the show/panels.
Marvel will announce some smaller stuff before the show, and then do big announcements at the show (usually during Next Big Thing panel or Cup o Joe if that happens)

In 2015 marvel announced a lot of ANAD and in 2016 they went over the Divided We Stand thing.

I'd say DC has historically been more shy at announcing stuff at cons and prefers to talk about stuff coming out right then and there, minus events.
