Since doctor who is soon going to be ruined forever beyond repair, lets look back at some of its animated exploits
https://youtu.be/225CeYAi8UI
>>
>>93950935
Will Chibnall really be worse than Moffat?
>>
>>93951046
I'd be surprised if anyone could be worse than moffat

But he's referring to the fact that the Doctor is a woman now, not any of the parts of the show that actually matter
>>
>>93951046
They got a fucking vagina for the next doctor, whos admitated that this is important to her as a feminist. The doctor is not a facist, so therefore shed never be the real doctor anyhow. Fuck chibnall, i hope he sucks hitlers dick in hell
>>
>>93950935
You can't ruin something that was already unwatchable trash for autists and tumblrinas

Also, >>/tv/
>>
>>93951082
>They got a fucking vagina for the next doctor

>At a later stage Doctor Who should be metamorphosed into a woman. This requires some considerable thought – mainly because I want to avoid a flashy, Hollywood Wonder Women because this kind of heroine with no flaws is a bore.
>Sydney Newman, creator of Doctor Who
>>
>>93951073
>I'd be surprised if anyone could be worse than moffat
Yeah, that's why I asked. I stopped keeping up with Who after that whole Missy shitshow. I might catch up just to see what happens.

Im talking about the two animated specials made and the cancelled nelvana cartoon ie:its /co/ related
>>
>>93950935

Doctor Who was ruined with the advent of Clara. I mean, it had been heading downhill for awhile, but she literally represents everything wrong with the new series, in one character.
>>
Heres the doctor who animated special where the doctor visists aera 51 https://youtu.be/4rKn1LOxD7E
>>
>>93951251
I agree, clara was awful and bill was even worse, but id hoped that with a new showrunner the show would get better instead of worse
>>
>>93951327
You dont know jsvk shit sbout the nee season besides that its a woman doctor
>>
>>93950935
Bye, pol.
>>
>>93951251
Rose represents everything wrong with the new series. Such a dull fucking character.
>>
>>93950935
The new showrunner is already leagues better than fucking Moffat, who can only tell the same 3 stories over and over again and jerk off about how the love of a mother is the most powerful force in the universe.
>>
>>93951082
BYE, POL.

I stopped watching 2 seasons ago.
Not for any particular reason...but I can't find the interest to come back.
>>
>>93951473
The worst thing is how he has all those hints at stories infinitely more interesting than the shit he settles for telling in the end. He creates this sick illusion of content, but it never manifests.
>>
>>93951473
Which episodes did he do? Because it was anything from the last season he's shit.
>>
>Female Doctor
Oh god, and she's not even asian, so many lives are gonna be lost...

No but seriously, I'm gonna wait till this series over before I watch this one, with how Bill was "written" in the previous one I'm more than hesitant.
>>
>>93951610
Same, pretty much, but I think it's been longer. I really wanted to get into the new FUCKING old FUCKING Doctor but none of the first stories really grabbed me, so I just stopped and could never muster the interest to try again.

Donna still best girl.
>>
>>93951527
>hating women this much
yikes
>>
>>93951717
>with how Bill was "written" in the previous one I'm more than hesitant.
>>93951473
>>
>>93951610
This. After Tennant, it just became this directionless nothing. He just sold the guy who only tells you half the story at all times. He was the cute buddy who'd turn on a dime into full war crime mode without becoming unlikeable. After that it just got increasingly bizarre and everything became Moffat bullshittery. Everything brought up, nothing resolved, 1000 concepts and not a scene to explore them in.
>>
How many episodes before we get a,
>"The Doctor, A woman!!?!?!?!?"
>"Is there a problem?"

I kind of want him to try the femfatal thing (mimicking River's demeanor) only for it to back fire.

>Doctor: I don't understand, I was told idiots fall for that!

>Other: who told you that?

>Doctor: River Song!

>Other: what does that say about you?

>Doctor: ...?
>>
>>93950935

>>
>>93952147
like Superheroes and Tokusatsu it's cheesy fun.
>>
>>93952187
This. It was episodic fun with an occasional hintthat things my not be all that simple. But then it wanted to be Star Trek.
>>
>>93951073
>But he's referring to the fact that the Doctor is a woman now
Really, that's the issue here?
Last time I checked it's not even guaranteed that the Doctor take the form of a human.
>>
>>93952199
That would be perfect
>>
>>93952218
Next Doctor is a woman
>>
>>93952243
>Last time I checked it's not even guaranteed that the Doctor take the form of a human
If you believed that, I got some Nigerian Princes with some exclusive deals to get you in touch with.
>>
>>93952261
>forgetting that time Romana regenerated into a blue alien for a few seconds
>>
>>93952260
Ok, thanks. Who's the actress then? Can't be bad right... oh who am I kidding
>>
>>93952261
I mean as an in universe thing. I vaguely remember that the Doctor once actually checked himself in the mirror to make sure he was a human. I think it was the Christmas Special when Purple Man became the Doc.
>>
>>93952298
>for a few seconds
I'm not saying it's impossible based on the lore. And I could see it happening to some c-lister Time Lord in a spinoff book or something.

But if you ever believed the Doctor wouldn't take a human form in the main show, you were retarded.
>>
>>93950935
Nobody in Britain knows how to animate, so all Doctor Who cartoons look horrifying in all the wrong ways.
>>
>>93950935
If this had happened with the first 12 doctors I would be mad but these are extra regenerations that were gifted to him.
Not that unusual one of those would be female.
>>
>>93950935
Since the NuWho format meant that the companion would be the focal point of the show who's the focus of the plot, and if they get a male companion for the new female Doctor, this would mean the show would have a male lead for the first time in ages. This should make you happy, OP.
>>
>>93952199
Oh, if they play it as:
>I'm 1200years old and I really don't know how to woman
That would be fun. Like questionable fashion choices, sudden "inexplicable" inability to entice female companions outside of home depot, obviously male mannerism that just look odd if a woman does them. But I'm not sure they are smart enough for that.
>>
>>93952444
I'm honestly expecting that it will be a female companion just for the homo subtext.
>>
>13th Doctor is the Valeyard

what is your reaction?
>>
>>93952444
Why can't there have been a fucking male companion before? donna was probably my favorite companion but rory was just a handbag for amy it was annoying.

>>
>>93952541
I guess to make sure the show wouldn't be a sausage fest if there were no girls in the TARDIS.
>>
>>93952477

>tfw no Drag Queen companion who makes a better woman than the woman
>>
>>93952529
>Valeyard
Surprise that they finally got around to actually doing anything with it, since people have been looking forward to it for forever and they did zilch with it when Moffat just blew threw, like, 2 extra regenerations like nothing.
>>
>>93952477

>Doctor: I don't know how to be a woman.
>Companion: Just act like yourself
>The Doctor laughs: No...
>>
>>93952592
The real problem is we've never had a dedicated cast above 2 characters for most of the new show and barely 3 depending on how you want to treat Rory+Amy. If the cast was consistently 4 people, including the doctor, there'd be no problems on that end. And you could much more easily mix up the dynamics and do more interesting things besides
>girl has a crush on the Doctor FUCKING AGAIN
>>
>>93952635
Because Trial of a Time Lord wasn't very good. It's like when everybody clamors for the Rani even though neither of her stories were watchable.
>>
>>93952711
It's the ideas people want to see implemented, rather than any specific story. People just wanted evil bitch Time Lord, which I guess the Master now fills, and Evil Doctor. The actual story itself didn't really matter. Weird nostalgia probably plays into it too, people go nuts whenever stuff from the old show gets brought in.
>>
>>93951204

He looks like a fusion of Egon Spengler and Vash the Stampede.

This. Doctor Who has been trash garbage for a couple of years now. If a female Doctor is your tipping point, I have to ask where the fuck you've been the last few years.

Unpopular opinion: Aside from Series 7, I liked Moffat's era for the most part.

I dont give a fuck who the next Doctor is, the writing was fucked beyond repair once Moffat took over

Which one was 7? 11ths last season?
>>
>>93953150
Yeah, the one with the Impossible Girl arc and there weren't any 2-parters.
>>
Hey remember The Silence and how fucked that was? Or hey, how about "Sonic Sunglasses", those were fun right? You know what scene perfectly portrays everything wrong with modern Doctor Who? The scene where The Doctor is in Davros' chair sipping tea. "How did I get this tea? Im the Doctor, just accept it"
>>
>>93953167
I blame the anniversary for the shittiness
>>
>>93953189
What was wrong with The Silence. I didn't think they were bad.
>>
>>93952905

>>
>>93953258
They went from unknown enemy that almost destroyed the universe, to mind deleting grays in suits trying to save reality, to fucking priest lackeys to some space nun we never knew. The Silence were whatever the plot wanted them to be
>>
>>93953308
And a c u c k. It felt like the writers were backpedaling on Amy's infatuation of The Doctor so much that they needed to overblow the Roman shit
>>
You know what was great? An Adventure in Space and Time. That was pretty good. Honestly better than the actual 50th anniversary

All they have to do is write her like they've written previous doctors except with personality tweaks like each doctor has their own of. Just do that and keep politics out of it and it could be a pretty entertaining gender bender story.

Unfortunately BBC is most likely incapable of doing this so anything Doctor Who will most likely end up being unbearable.

>>93956138
It's kind of hard to bring back a villain who's re-usability was severed completely with the whole "He's the Doctor's Ghost of Christmas Future" plot twist. And on top of that; the whole "Doctor of Law" gimmick is just too specific to utilize with just any old evil plan, unless he resorts to some Master-esque disguise right off the bat which would make his function as an antagonist redundant.

I mean, he can't exactly sue or prosecute his past self again when everyone now knows he's a conniving asshole who's burned bridges with the shotty law system he relied upon to exploit. It would take way too much creativity to do him justice than anyone at the BBC has at their disposal.

>Female Doctor
>vocal feminist actress
I see the phrase "Women are better than men" being used at least once in the first episode, probably in response to her new female companion asking why her companions are always female.
There's no reason that a female doctor couldn't work if it was well written to retain the personality and concept of the doctor while keeping overt feminism out of it. However everything I've seen so far has indicated that we're going to get a bunch of feminist tripe and a doctor with a completely different personality.
>>
One of the things I hate about modern Who is how they trivialized past villains and made them into fucking jokes. I remember when 9 had an entire episode centered around ONE Dalek being treated as a serious threat and now they show up in droves to be laughingstocks who job. Same goes for the Cybermen with their constant, convenient upgrading where half the time the show forgets that they're supposed to be cybernetic organism and not robots. And dont even get me started on Victorian lesbian couple and their Sontaran butler
>>
>>93951073
>But he's referring to the fact that the Doctor is a woman now, not any of the parts of the show that actually matter

It matters if the actress doing the doctor sucks ass or if the writing degenerates into "Fuck men, women are superior" instead of just "I'm the doctor and I'm doing doctor shit."

I'm not from the fucking future so I'm not saying either of those are 100% what will happen, but given how most "it's [x] superhero BUT THEY'RE A WOMAN NOW" things go down in comics I think a nasty trend has reared its head lately with this kinda thing.

It's a pity he couldn't save the Latimer boy though, but he DID help kill Collin Ferrel so all's well that ends well.
>>
>>93957178

Quality of Doctor-wise:

9 > 12 > 11 > 10

Ten was very chipper and friendly but also always teetering on the edge of becoming a vengeful blood god.

Quality of Episodes-wise

10 > 12 > 9 > 11

Moffat went off the fucking rails during the Smith era.

I cannot tell you how pissed I was. It completely undid the core fucking characterization and the entire goddamn Davies-era mythos because Moffat wanted to be so fucking clever.

Hell, you could have just had "Oh, there was an outpost of Timelords tucked away and they're finally coming out" or some shit.

I mean, the 50th anniversary special had its moments, but essentially all it boiled down to was a Zygon plot they had lying around tied into a forced ass retcon regarding the time war. The special is carried by Matt, David, and Hurt interacting with one another, besides that the plot is fucking shit. Furthermore I hated that self insert Whovian scientist woman. All that good shit built up in the 9/10 era pissed away with each 11 episode written by fucking Moffat

So do I, but then the media landscape changed and they started co-opting male-leading franchises and putting a female in the lead
which isn't inherently a bad thing but when they act so smug and condescending about it I refuse to defend them

We don't hate women, we hate modern media reducing them to mouthpieces for agendas with the subtly of a wrench at the cost of good writing. You see a lot of shows, comics, whatever have the idea that theres this progressive market to tap into but dont see that by pushing this kind of thing so much leads to alienating the audience with overblown messages that have been beaten like a dead horse. Women arent oppressed, this is another way of trying to get views. However this doesnt automatically mean the new Doctor will be written this way, its just we've come to expect it given how much it happens in media.
>>93957905
Im not, I dropped the show after Moffats constant fucked writing

It often gets drowned out by waifuism, basically watering down their positive traits and character into the usual CUTE or MY WAIFU shit. Where a lot of shows fail is making their gender (as with race too) a focus in their character when really it shouldnt matter. Its like comparing Static to Miles or something.

>>

They'll bring him back to explain how Missy survived death by downloading her consciousness into his body.
>>
>>93956608
Agreed, just do the Robert Holmes method: write the character the exact same and add in the new catch phrases later. If the actor is good, their Doctor's personality will show through while still feeling like the same character. Holmes was the best writer on the classic show, and that was part of the reason.
>>
>>93956926
The recent Davros episode pissed me off for this reason. All the emotional and dramatic scenes were great, as it really delved into his character and how similar he and the doctor were, but the other half of the episodes were shitty comedy bits and campy as fuck, which undercut the former, and then they resolve it with a shitty ending where the Doctors like "haha! I was always one step ahead and your plan was fucked from the start!" Just so they can wrap it up in five minutes.

Women are fine in many roles if you let them play the character rather than being stupid about it.

I should be disgusted, but Moffat was so fucking awful that I lost all interest in future Doctor Who.

RTD's fourth series and specials were shit, but I really did enjoy series 1-3 because it felt like a legitimate effort to reinstate classic Who to a new generation. I personally think Eccleston slightly beats out Tenant, but they're both top tier. I think the issue is consistency. Tenant was around for so long that his Doctor flip flopped too much, sometimes even being against things he was pro a few episodes earlier. Eccleston's Doctor had a lot of weight to him because he was silly and serious at the perfect times without obnoxiously trying to sell himself as a badass.

The only time 9th Doctor tossed around his "I'm the Doctor" dick was when facing the Daleks, but that's because he hates their guts.

In a cave full of rocks and shit, in a giant mansion with metal objects, he tries to smash the thing with his fragile fists.

I really liked that, though. I loved his introduction "I guess I'm the kind of man who doesn't believe in second chances" or whatever.

And I liked that he desperately wanted to do the right thing, but push him far enough and he was the scariest thing in the universe.

The whole one-bad-day-away-from-Time Lord Victorious thing was such a cool direction for the character, and it made sense after the horror of the Time War and losing Rose.

Missy was a fucking great character, though.

However, DW has been blah qnd repetitive for a while now otherwise into the Smith era frankly. Some good bits but a lot where people's heart didn't seem in it.

If anything, it is possible just the novelty of changing to a woman or just a new showrunner will get writers interested again. But we'll see.
>>
>>93964483
IMHO, Ten was practically bipolar - he was a genuinely nice person but he's been through so much that at times he just lashes out and becomes either this maniacal figure, borderline sadist or a broken shell pining for lost friends and family.

Meanwhile Eleven was more like a goofy man-child who tried to repress the rage of Nine and sadness of Ten and came across as aloof, almost.

I'm going to say 10 over 9 only because 10 had a longer run, so we couldn't connect with 9 as much, but the two are damn neck-and-neck powerhouses.

Matt Smith had moments, but just couldn't hit the bar that'd been set for him. I stopped watching after the baby episode completely killed any love I had for the series.

This, just cant take it seriously knowing what happens later.
Fucking immortal Clara and her time travelling cafe... what the fuck iswrong with these writers?

It bothered me how much he relied on just waving the sonic screwdriver around to give his character some sort of action or presence in a lot of his scenes. I get that it's supposed to be ultra-versatile, far beyond what it may even have originally been intended for, but it's not friggin' omnipotent. It's meant to be a tool, not a crutch, and Matt used it as everything from a scanner to a lockpick to a weapon to really anything else he neede or wanted it to be, far, far more than anything I saw Tennant doing with it. Struck me as a lazy fallback.

Wake up.

They brought River back yet again, by then I was getting kind of tired of the show going in circles and when it came back for the new season episodes started piling up and I just stopped watching.

>I kind of want him to try the femfatal thing (mimicking River's demeanor) only for it to back fire.
>>Doctor: I don't understand, I was told idiots fall for that!
>the doctor is now a female with the personality of a 60 year old scottish man
I would watch this.
But I have doubts her character will not be written like shit.

Closing Time.

This is the episode that all mystique and wonder I saw in Doctor Who died.
>>
>>93950935
>going to be
>He thinks it wasn't when they did the same thing to the Master, who also somehow managed to escape the Time War without explanation.

Being a Doctor Who fan is like being a Russian Patriot. You know somethimg really bad happened in the past, got shit on now and has an even bleaker future, but you still like it without being blinded like Whovians/Nationalists
>>
>>93952964
Jack?
>>
>>93964688
"Diner" but still doesn't she have to die to restore the timeline? Or some shit? Seriously that episode left me confused...

After I stopped watching during the Smith era, especially the confusing shit of River Song,I tried watching the new doctor and couldn't get into it and I gave it another chance and it happened to be this episode I tuned into.

I legit got up turned it off and watched something else. The dragon egg concept thing just really turned me off...

I wasn't mad or anything I can't explain this emotion but the writing and plot was so outta fucking whack I couldn't stand it anymore...

I'll watch the female doctor and see what's up but if she turns out to be a River Song 2.0 I'm just not gonna watch it.
>>
>>93964953
She has to go back and die "eventually".
But eventually could be a billion years later.

The fact Moffat pulled not one, but two pieces of resurrection tech out of his ass in one season is astounding. Why does this exist? Why was it never used before or again? Fucking hell
>>
so is it guaranteed that Smith is the worst NuDoctor? or is he tied with Chris?
>>
>>93965062
>Chris
>worst

What the fuck are you smoking man?
>>
>>93965076
He has to be, he isnt as good as Tennant or Capaldi anon
>>

10, but 12 is close.
>>
>>93965021
>"Eventually"

Well that's just terrible right there

>two pieces of resurrection tech

Wait what was the other one?
>>
>>93965106
Smith and Capaldi are worse by dint of the absolute fucking dross they had to work with. Tennant at his absolute nadir didn't have to deal with anywhere near the amount of utter shite Smith and Capaldi had to swallow at their very best. Two great actors left doing nothing but monologue after monologue about how they're the ultimate badass and really cool and peaceful and fun loving but don't fuck with them because they'll kill you and destroy your entire planet and they're so, SO sorry but you were an alien the whole time John.

Ecclestone had one great run with some great highs and few lows, he dropped the mic and went out on a high note. Class act all the way.
>>
>>93965276
I like Eccleston. I'd like Eccleston more if he did some fucking audios like Tennant or a dying-from-cancer Hurt did.

as other's have said there is no Doctor more fleshed out then 8

and paul mgann has more time spent in the role then anyone thanks to the sheer AMOUNT of big finish 8th doctor he has performed
>>
>>93964144
Yeah it was a real letdown compared to to season 1. They should have just done a new case
>>
>>93951073
Seriously Moffat is a good writer but goes full retard any time he's given control.

I'm looking forward to salty fangirls now unable to project their daddy issues into this Doctor. Also literally no Internet feminists are happy because she's a white cis feminine able bodied person with two tits.
>>
>>93964166
She was fine, but not that interesting. I think they backpedaled too far after Clara.
>>
>>93965339
I would happily have watched a War Doctor season. It's a damn shame it'll never happen now.
>>
>>93953844
Rory > Jack > Amy > Martha > rose > k-9 > random bowl of potato salad > clara (smith) > litteral pile of dog shit > Donna > Clara (capaldi) > 3 week old landfill juice kept in sun > Bill
>>
>>93953964
>it's her turn

So what you're telling me is that we'll have a regen into a "woman" doctor, and then at the last minute she'll be replaced by a regen into a loud, bouncing, boisterous fellow who will Make Time Travel Great Again?
>>
>>93959834
Heaven Sent is sour because you know what's coming next is Moffat pulling yet another terrible ball-less ending.
>>
>>93957788
Capaldi is a 10/10 actor

His doctor however was a 2/10.
>>
>>93963429
>Have a chat about how you need to move on in the pursuit of doing what's necessary
>Tell Bill to chill because she always says some stupid shit out of anger/ignorance
>Punch a dude out for casual human racism

I thought I was having a stroke, Capaldi deserved better.
>>
>>93951927
Actually, I'd love for something like this to happen:
>The Doctor is a woman?!
>Yes she is. Do you have a problem with that?
>Of course I do! This cult we're infiltrating (for the purposes of this joke) is strictly limited to males! Women are forbidden!
>Oh, shite.
>>
>>93965276
>>93965317
>Says he left early to avoid typecasting.
>Refused to come back for the 50th.
>Won't do audiobooks.
There's other reasons, aren't there?
>>
>>93966221
He did it because Davies was writing and he loves working with Davies. I don't think he has any attachment or love for the role beyond that whatsoever. He did it, it was fun, it's over. No more.
>>
>>93966221

i only watched doctor who when it was the bald guy before tennant and then tennant

am i missing anything worthwhile after that or is it all tumblr gifs and progressive quips
>>
>>93966526
Okay kek, imagining Moffat and Chris having that sort of conversation sounds funny
>>
>>93966555
>am i missing anything worthwhile after that

NOOOOOOPEEE. There's a decent fictionalized account about the birth of the show up to the Troughton era that's worth a watch if you like the franchise but beyond that, no.
>>
is 9-10 the only good part of NuWho? my uncle loved to talk about Doctor Who when it was starting up again but now he doesnt talk about it anymore

imagine actually caring about doctor who in the year 2017

I watched the first season of the reboot when it started and it is the textbook definition of trying too hard.
>>
>>93957661
>What is overexaggeration?
>>
>>93966758
>Capaldi
>fine with Clara
Clara is the worst companion in the modern era. For her first two seasons she's never wrong, and the series gushes over her harder than post-two Rose.
>>
I don't see the problem with the doctor being a woman? considering we've seen Time-lords switch genders from regeneration before
>>
>>93967256
The options are limited for Capaldi. Bill makes Clara look like Donna.
>>
>>93967292
NuWho hasn't written females all that great for the last couple of seasons.

>>
can someone briefly sum up the river song bullshit? I never watched more than 2-3 episodes of Smith and I don't intend to watch the rest anytime soon.
>>
>>93964593
Oh for sure. I don't think they could do worse. I mean I really hope they couldn't because River has set that bar so fucking high.

But watch her have all kinda new abilities and shit. For some reason.

Still Star Trek is the origin point for Mary Sues.

They were a deviant cesspool way before the internet was a thing.
>>
>>93968470
She's from the future and she's the Doctors wife from the future.

Her Timeline runs backwards from the doctors and due to Rory and Amy fucking in the Tardis or some shit she's an artificial Time Lord mutant.

Everyone in the universe knows her and she's got the ear of the most powerful people. And she just shows up whenever shes needed to take over the story.

She's an awful Maguffin Mary Sue Deus Ex Machina of a character. And that's legit she's literally each of those things.

She serves no purpose but to be the goal, the end game and the one person with all the answers.
>>
>>93968628
