There's no reason that a female doctor couldn't work if it was well written to retain the personality and concept of the doctor while keeping overt feminism out of it. However everything I've seen so far has indicated that we're going to get a bunch of feminist tripe and a doctor with a completely different personality.

One of the things I hate about modern Who is how they trivialized past villains and made them into fucking jokes. I remember when 9 had an entire episode centered around ONE Dalek being treated as a serious threat and now they show up in droves to be laughingstocks who job. Same goes for the Cybermen with their constant, convenient upgrading where half the time the show forgets that they're supposed to be cybernetic organism and not robots. I personally think Eccleston slightly beats out Tenant, but they're both top tier. I think the issue is consistency. Tenant was around for so long that his Doctor flip flopped too much, sometimes even being against things he was pro a few episodes earlier. Eccleston's Doctor had a lot of weight to him because he was silly and serious at the perfect times without obnoxiously trying to sell himself as a badass.

It bothered me how much he relied on just waving the sonic screwdriver around to give his character some sort of action or presence in a lot of his scenes. I get that it's supposed to be ultra-versatile, far beyond what it may even have originally been intended for, but it's not friggin' omnipotent. It's meant to be a tool, not a crutch, and Matt used it as everything from a scanner to a lockpick to a weapon to really anything else he neede or wanted it to be, far, far more than anything I saw Tennant doing with it. Her Timeline runs backwards from the doctors and due to Rory and Amy fucking in the Tardis or some shit she's an artificial Time Lord mutant.

Everyone in the universe knows her and she's got the ear of the most powerful people. And she just shows up whenever shes needed to take over the story.

She's an awful Maguffin Mary Sue Deus Ex Machina of a character. And that's legit she's literally each of those things.

She serves no purpose but to be the goal, the end game and the one person with all the answers.
