Nudity is a lot more common and accepted in France in general, as opposed to violence. Like France does not have topless beaches, they all are.

I remember a comic that was censored both in France and in the US but on different pages.

That isn't true though. On kids TV, because shows tend to be international coproductions and are often made with US export in mind, production companies push towards self-censorship. At some point at Marathon you couldn't even draw bellybuttons, who were considered obscene. Now, we all get kicks out of the Germans and their absolutely batshit censoship laws from the days of yore but IIRC, it's not a German-specific phenomenon.

I know a lot of the anime here had a bit of censoring applied to it back in the days of Cold War.
Nowadays, they have no problem putting translated Evangelion movies on TV even with all the gore untouched.
