One of the core virtues of Wonder Woman's creator, William Moulton Marston, was the idea of "loving submission". This referred to the concept of allowing oneself to be cared for by another, where one partner willingly takes charge of affairs and the other is the recipient. Though this was not specifically sexual, it could be applied to sex as well. And though it was not specifically about a man submitting to a woman, Marston did not like how gender roles demanded men be macho.

This is what Wonder Woman was about-- not the superiority of women, but that they had just as much potential to be strong-willed or dominant as men, and that there was no shame in being helped by a woman.

Of course, in practice this meant proselytizing the virtues that set women apart, such as a loving nature, beauty, and intelligence, and Marston did believe that these virtues were what made having a female partner better than a male one, but the Wonder Woman comics were never disparaging of men.
