Well, the Joker really does like Harley, but only ironically when she's not being Harley. I mean, he was genuinely pleased and happy with her the one time she actually tried to kill him, like just straight up shoot him dead with a gun. He loved it.

Why can't Harley just be a villain? Not a manipulated abuse victim, but just a girl who legitimately enjoys being evil.

I don't think it's the portrayal that raises question, it's the fact that a lot of the same crowd that has vilified men as abusive rapists has fetishsized the Harley/Joker relationship

When they attempted to raise Harley up as some sort of feminist icon it rightfully raised some eyebrows
