Here's my wild theory on the episodes after the spongebob movie from 2004.

If both the movie and the episodes after are canon shouldn't plankton be able to remember the krabby patty secret formula?
Plankton is a smart villain and should be able to remember the ingredients for the krabby patty secret formula.
My theory is that the spongebob movie is a cannon episode, though it was intended to be the last one. Because of this the other episodes are just filler until the movie which is the true ending episode.
I bet that if spongebob were to actually end there would be a finial episode that would have a similar plot to the 2004 movie.

The movie was supposed to be the end of the series period and now it just serves as the chronological end.
