"Funni- I mean, Doug, I apologize to you for how much of a jerk I was. I have really low self esteem, and making your life hell for years was the only way I could manage to feel good about myself. All of this is a facade, the hair, the leather jacket, and I don't even like Pattie, I just wanted to put a little bit of jazz into you. Aww, I'm sorry, lately I've just felt this hole inside from being so awful, it's like I just don't get the same positive stimulus from tearing other people down anymore. I used to respond to others' sincerity with cheap, incisive comments like 'Yeah, right!' and 'You want some mayo with that?' but I just don't see the point anymore. I don't have the energy to continue being this mean all the time. In fact, I hate myself. I hate this constant stream of negativity in my head, I hate that it's the first reaction I default to whenever I encounter a new situation or idea. I'm sorry. I wasn't serious about any of it. And I'm sorry for making fun of you, Doug. We might have different interests in opinions, but I didn't have any right to treat you the way I did. I don't expect anyone to forgive me for being such a jerk. I'm going to take a lot of time to think about my life and what I'm doing. Maybe if you're still around in a few years, things can be different."
