It works on the page because you can read it with a more scene fitting tone and at any pace you like.

It never works in the Marvel movies, because like watching anime vs reading manga, the flaws become more clear when you have to see it played out with actors talking and the scene moving at a normal speed opposed to reading in your head.

It's more like, the Infinity Gauntlet was never good and people who think it is are retarded. It's pretty much the Marvel equivalent of the Transformers movie.
