I really like Northlanders, it bounced between historical fiction and fantasy and just historical lifestyle stuff. A bunch of short stories by Brian wood that also bounces through the different Norse times. One of my fav stories in it is just a hunter trying to catch a deer

There are a series of graphic novels about some of the great murder mysteries of recent history.
Like Lindberg Baby kidnapping or pic related.

They read like an illustrated book report. Pretty interesting stuff.

Life story of Alice Prin or Kiki, the Queen of Montparnasse, very popular nude model for french artists during early 1900's.

There was a comic about the civil war not too long ago. Got a sample of it on FCBD a long time back and remember it being pretty good.
Tried to good up a pic but "civil war.times comic" still only brings up Marvel Civil War event.

Maus is pretty great.
A comic artist illustrating his father's story of being a jew in hiding and eventually captured during Nazi Germany.

I like how you can tell the story has been kept as unfiltered as possible. Even the victims aren't shown to be all that noble merely people trying to survive (personally thought that guy's dad seemed like a jerk).

Marville stops being a cape comic near the end and shows some amazing insight into some parts of history.
