I know it's not MCU, but why no synergy? Or any spin-off comics? The last time they showed up in a mainline comic was like 5 years ago during Ends of the Earth.

I think it's like they're trying to do their own thing, using Marvel IP but separating it in case they decide to do an animated cinematic universe with the other Disney movies. Easy to do superheroes with Disney after all.

Disney is doing the same thing they do every time. Jewing properties into being their own. People will think of Big Hero Six and think of Disney, not Marvel. So if Marvel was to leave Disney, Disney would be credited. Knowing them they probably copyrighted their aspects placed in the movies so synergy would result in a lawsuit if Marvel was gone.

So essentially they're disassociating Big Hero 6 from Marvel much like how they disassociated their versions of a fairy tale from Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen and any others.
